1 The genome is the full genetic structure of an organism.

2 The Human Genome Project is trying to map out all the genes in the
human body and then find out what they are for.

We want to know the sequence of the human genome so we can help

3 prevent and treat genetic diseases, and create medical breakthroughs.
Also because scientists like to learn stuff.

There are ethical reasons that people will be able to store genetic
4 samples of your information in a database for scientific usage without
your consent.
It is possible that in the future, doctors will be able to use a genetic
scan of DNA like blood, and then use that to determine if you’re highly

5 likely to develop certain diseases such as cancer. They will then

perform treatments which alter DNA or something to do with proteins
to prevent you getting cancer or whatever, without using chemo or
radiotherapy.
Doctors are using genetic testing on humans by extracting stem cells.
They also look for gay genes or violence genes like MAO by scanning

6 different DNA patterns in gay or violent prisoners. They also use

someone’s DNA profile to find out how likely they are to get a genetic
disease or illness such as cancer or Alzeimers. DNA testing also plays
a role in studying disorders such as autism.

7 The human genome project will make sure that people know what
gene’s they’re looking for when performing genetic tests.

The publicity the human genome project gets is a lot because there

8 has never been a biological research project with so much funding and
potential before. Just like NASA research, we are not aware of what
will come out of the research until many years.
Development of new drugs is something that happens due to research.
9 The Human Genome Project is something that will help scientists
develop better drugs.
The involvement of Celera made the original researches think about
how they could map the genome quicker than Celera, its rival.
10 It also raised ethical questions about the closed source and profitability
of the genome.

11 Part one of mapping out the genes is complete. Part two of finding out
what they do is still underway and will be complete.

Everyone would have different designer babies and some would not
12 due to the ethics involved in playing god and creating an idealistic
society.

Designer babies will cause the same problems that asylum seekers
13 cause on society, but more; as asylum seekers make us normal people
defunct. Designer babies would make normal babies even worse.
Venus and Serena Williams are very good tennis players due to their

14 genetics. There is something in this world called natural talent, and

some of it does not have to be unlocked by training. Just that some
have it and some don’t.
