Exercise 1 MML Commands

Match the commands (left) with their respective descriptions (right).
Place the number of the description in the blank next to the correct
command. Use ALEX if you need additional help:

rxmsp __8__ 1: Prints out all administration data that has been previously set by
command for one or more Managed Objects (MOs)
rxmfp __13_
2: Prints the alarm list
rxelp __7__ 3: Tells if the cell is halted or active
rlcrp __12_ 4: Bring an MO out of service

rlstp __3__ 5: Block MOs

6: Initiates a printout of the state for the specified DIP
rxlti __19_
7: Output the fault logs for all MOs
rxtei __11_ 8: Prints the status information for one or more MOs
rxmop __1__ 9: Prints which cells are connected to a TG
rxpli __17_ 10: Prints the connection data of the SNTs
11: Initiates a test of one or more MOs in the BTS (except TG)
rxbli __5__
12: Gives total numbers per channel type of how many channels are
rxble __14_ available (meaning deblocked) in the cell
rxesi __18_ 13: Printing of fault information for one or more MOs
rxcap __21_ 14: Deblock (unblock) MOs
15: Prints the name of the DIPs and the corresponding entities
rxese __4__ connected to the DIPs
rxapp __16_ 16: Prints information on A-bis path to TG; includes (but not limited to)
DS0s (devices), their use, and DCPs in the IS
rxcdp __20_
17: Loads RBS software from the BSC to the BTS (called Function
rxtcp __9__ Change and Program Load)
allip __2__ 18: Bring MO into service; bringing into service starts the software
loaded for the MO
dtdip __15_
19: Initiates a loop test that is used to verify that the correct connection
dtstp __6__ exists between the TRC and a TS within the BTS

ntcop __10_ 20: Prints MO configuration data such as frequencies used, purpose,
etc.
21: Prints the BTS capabilities

Exercise 2 : Cell Definition

PURPOSE
The purpose of this exercise is:

• To make the student aware of some of the parameters and

commands used in cell definition
• To allow the student to practice using the ALEX documentation
software and WinFIOL

INSTRUCTIONS
Listed on the following pages are instructions and specifications
for different cells to be defined (Groups 1 through 5). You will
create two things:

• A completed list of parameters and values (fill in the blanks of

the Cell Criteria Table)
• A cell definition script based on a given set of parameter
criteria.

You will use the following Operational Instruction (OPI) from ALEX
to complete this exercise:

BSC, Internal Cells, Define

Please note: The criteria are not listed in the order they will appear
in the command script.

Your instructor will assign which Group you will work on.
GSM BSS Integration for Field Maintenance

GROUP 1
Create a command script to define a cell called Africa by performing
the steps in the given OPI. Complete all the steps up to and including
Step 25, and fill in all blanks in the Cell Criteria Table (on the
following page) while creating the command script (the first one has
been done for you). When all groups have finished, the remaining
steps will be done as a class.

HINT: The answer to the following OPI questions will be “NO”: 3, 5,

10, 13, 15, 18, 21, and 23.

Write the command script below:

rldei:cell=Africa;
rldec:cell=Africa,cgi=310-010-301-10,bsic=00,bcchno=730;
rlcxc:cell=Africa,dtxd=on;
rlcpc:cell=Africa,mstxpwr=30,bspwrb=33,bspwrt=33;
rlcfi:cell=Africa,dchno=722 & 714;
rlloc:cell=Africa,bspwr=37, bstxpwr=37, bsrxmin=110, bsrxsuff=85,
msrxmin=110, msrxsuff=85;
rlssc:cell=Africa, cchpwr=30, dtxu=0, nccperm=0&&7;
rlmfc:cell=Africa, mbcchno=726&712&717&735&721&715;

Continue with OPI (these will apply to all groups):

• Skip Step 26 (since TGs are not yet defined)
• Step 27 – no
• Step 28 – yes (the groups will define the other groups’ newly defined cells as neighbors)
• Step 29 – no
• Step 31 – Define the neighbor cells using RLNRI
• Step 32 – no
• Skip Steps 34 and 35
• Step 36 – no
• Step 42 – Change the cell state to ACTIVE for each new internal cell using RLSTC
• Skip Steps 43, 44, 45, and 46
• Step 47 – Make a report
• Step 48 – The job is completed
