Evidence: The perfect city / town

Imagine that in 10 years your city / town will be perfect. What will it be like? Think
about the problems your city has now and how they can be solved for it to be
perfect in 10 years.

Write a description of your city in 10 years. Use will and the vocabulary learned in
this learning activity. Highlight will-sentences with green and vocabulary words with
blue. Remember to use connectors and punctuation.

Take a look at the example below to help you get started.

 "I think my city will be better in 10 years. Probably there will not be traffic jams
anymore. Also public transportation will be clean, efficient and organized. For
this to happen, the roads will have to be in perfect conditions.

After solving social problems and creating better job opportunities, it will be the
safest city in the world. In addition, we will have the best museums and art
galleries. Besides, there will be a lot of green areas and parks to enjoy. We will
have the best football team, not like the one we have now which performs
poorly. I believe people will be friendly. And finally, the most important aspect
will be to have more public universities, so everybody will have the chance to
study.

It will be as nice as a European city, but a lot more enjoyable and vibrant
though.”

Description:
In 10 years Bogotá will be bigger. If the city continues growing at the rhythm that it has grown
during the last decade, it is estimated that it will have 14 million residents by that time, double
the current population. Has anyone thought of whether this metropolis will have enough
water to meet the needs of such a population? Will air pollution levels be tolerable? In other
words, will Bogotá be a city that is sustainable, friendly and which enjoys a high quality of life?

That is far away. However others see that date just around the corner which is why they are
preparing for it now. Our highest managers will should to anticipate the problems of the future
and seek joint agreement on planning for a long-term future for Bogotá to avoid uncontrolled
population growth and exceeding infrastructure capacity. Experts says that cities of the future
will defined by their arrival points, which makes a great emphasis on airports and roads. I think
transportation is about people and goods, not about vehicles, which shows the necessity of
organizing the subject of mass mobility. Following that model will give rise to enormous costs
for the city administration, which will be required to build more road networks and create
public services for those new areas.

The model of a perfect city, will require a solution for avoiding all the inequalities and for
controlling the migration, which is a way in which the capital is connected with close localities
and municipalities that also offer their residents work opportunities and quality of life, equal
or better than the current ones.
