The 29-item Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire by Abdollahzadeh1 et al.
Introduction
Spiritual intelligence is related to the relationship between man and the universe, the world of
creation, and existence in the world. Spiritual intelligence refers to the ability of understanding
deep spiritual questions and inner insights which is the highest level of intelligence. Spiritual
intelligence is the concept of awareness of spirituality as a context for existence or the power of
creative life from evolution. In addition, spiritual intelligence is the complete inner
consciousness, deep awareness of the world, spirituality and the Hereafter. Spiritual intelligence
is the attitude of self-awareness as well as our relationship with God, each other, and all
creatures. Spiritual intelligence depends on the ability to see things more than the individual
aspect and the recognition of the relationship between perception, faith, and behavior. Humans
rely on spiritual intelligence when we search the meaning of the questions like what am I? why
am I here? Etc. Spiritual intelligence helps humans find the hidden source of the love and joy
that goes to stress and anxiety every day. Spiritual intelligence means finding a meaning for life
and avoiding unnecessary events which means spending time for transcendental goals regardless
of the views of others. (Abdollahzadeh, Baqherpour, Bozhmehrani and Lotfi, 2009).
Ed Diner considered the fundamental components of real wealth for humans as follows:
- Satisfaction with life and happiness
- Spirituality and meaning in life
- Positive attitudes and emotions
- Kind social relationships
- Engaging and working activities
- Values and goals of life for their realization
- Physical and mental health
- Financial sufficiency for satisfying the needs
Finally, if you are prevented from the development of any aspect of real wealth, your quality of
life will be destroyed. Meanwhile, spirituality and meaning have a significant role in life
(Abdollahzadeh, Mahboobi and Bagherpour, 2012).
Introduction
This test was normalized by Abdollahzadeh in 2008 with the collaboration of Mahdieh Kashmiri
and Fatemeh Arabameri on students. The normal group was 280 people, 200 of whom were the
students of Gorgan University of Natural Resources and 80 students of Payame Noor University
of Behshahr. Of these, 184 were female and 96 were male. First, a 30-item questionnaire was
prepared by the test developers and implemented on 30 students.

Psychometric features
The reliability of the test in the initial phase was 0.87 by the alpha method. In the analysis of the
question by Loop method, 12 questions were removed and the final questionnaire was adjusted
with 29 phrases. At the final stage, the questionnaire was implemented on 280 subjects and the
reliability was 0.89 at this stage. Factor analysis was used to evaluate validity in addition to
formal content validity that the questions were confirmed by the experts (colleagues) and the
correlation of all questions was higher than 0.3. In Varimax rotation, two major factors were
found to reduce variables. The first factor with 12 question was called "understanding and
communicating with the source of universe” and the second factor with 17 items was called
“spiritual life or reliance on the inner core." The first factor included the questions 1, 4, 5, 7, 8,
9, 11, 15, 16, 24, 27, 29 and the second factor included the questions 2, 3, 6, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17,
18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 28.
The test indicated a difference between male and female. In addition, there was a significant
difference between females and males in terms of general spiritual intelligence in the first factor
but there was no significant difference in the second factor.
The table below shows the statistical indices of females and males.

This test was conducted in 2010 and 2011 on 490 students of Payame Noor University of
Behshahr. The obtained Cronbach alpha was 0.88. The correlation between the first factor of
this questionnaire and the 93- item spiritual intelligence of Amram and Drayer (2007) was 0.76
at 0.01 level. The correlation between the first factor of this questionnaire and the 93- item
spiritual intelligence of Amram and Drayer (2007) was 0.71 at 0.01 level indicating the
convergent validity of the questionnaire. The above-mentioned results (convergent validity) were
obtained from the implementation of two questionnaires on 200 residents of Bandare Gaz and
190 students of Payame Noor University in Behshahr. Several studies confirmed the validity and
reliability of this questionnaire.
Scoring method
In this test, one score is given to I completely disagree, two scores to I disagree, three scores to I
almost disagree, four scores to I agree, and five scores are given to I totally agree. The scores
range from 29 to 145.
