REFLECTION
As what I have experienced myself with this subject, Icould say that really teaching
plays a significant role when itcomes to this subject matter teaching math in primary grades
.It seta as a medium of instruction in a waythat focuses primarily on Grades 1, 2 and 3 that is
very useful for us future educators. It taught me lots of strategiesregarding the K-12
Curriculum. Aside from that I learned somuch of this lesson. In terms of preparing myself to
becomea future teacher someday. This one taught me how to teach, handle and manage
Elementary students; it provides me theviewpoint of what really teaching similarly likes. It
alsointroduces different activities and concepts that can be useful inteaching a lesson and
one more thing thatinterested mewith this subjectis that when ourprofessor introduces us to
thedifferent techniques and advices on how to demo in front, although at the very first place
it seems so hard for us second yearstudent but he motivates us that at the earliest time
wepractice hard things first so that time will come it will made easy for us. Yes it was indeed
analytically very hard to startup with a lesson plan but still with the help of the our
instructor’s guidance and the step by step methods we able to slowly cope up with the
struggles that enable us tolearn basic methods in creating a Lesson Plan with ourpreferred
choice of lesson and grade level. All in all those learning that I gain will be forever be keptand
apply someday when it’s my turn to shine as one of theefficient and effective teacher could
be. This subject mattertaught me a lot of things to enjoy, cherish and work hard andlearn
more about teaching to learning process. It was reallythat tired when it comes to making a
lesson plan but day byday as we go through to the end of the chapter all of thesewere worth
it. Another thing that I couldn’t forget is that ourteacher let us experienced the kind of
Demonstration givenby different methods in Lesson Plan, it was quite nervous yetit was
unforgettable one because at this early year we able toexperience it and witness and learn
the way of approach, teaching techniques a teacher must do to get the attention of the

Discovery Approach: A Sample Lesson

I. Objectives
At the end of the activity, the pupils should be able to:

a. describe the behavior of different liquids on different types of surfaces;

b. perform the activity with care and accuracy; and
c. work harmoniously and cooperatively in a group while performing.

II. Subject Matter

Liquid Drops
a. Concept: different liquid drops behave differently in different types/ kinds of
surfaces
b. Processes: Observing
Communicating
c. Values: Cooperation with one another in a group
Cleanliness and Orderliness
d. Background of the Lesson:
The lesson is-“Liquid Drops”. These liquids are water, alcohol, and oil.
The different surfaces are wax paper, newsprint, and typewriting paper. These
liquids and surfaces are not to be identified. Let the pupils discover/find out for
themselves.

III. Materials
¼ Sheet (size of typewriting paper of the following surfaces)

16 --- wax paper pieces

16 --- newsprint pieces or, depending on the number of groups
16 --- typewriting pieces

¼ cup (ordinary coffee cup) of the following liquids:

-faucet water
-cooking or coconut oil
- alcohol
12-medicine droppers
If the medicine droppers are not available, let the pupils do a trial-and–error way of producing
liquid drops.
Use the small finger in getting liquid, by dipping this finger in the liquid. Lift the finger
from the liquid. The liquid that clings to the finger will drop on the surface.
IV. Procedure
A. Motivation
On a rainy day, have you noticed the raindrops falling on the street? On a
leaf? On your umbrella? On your school uniform? On the front glass window of
the jeep or bus?

What happens to the raindrops as these fall on the street? On the leaf? ...
etc.
Have you ever thought of why these raindrops behave the way they do on the
different surfaces?

B. Presentation (Free Inquiry)

Our problem for today’s science activity is:
“How do different liquid drops behave on different types/kinds of surfaces?”

Here are your materials and the different liquids. You will work in small
group of 3 members each. You can discuss as you work on the different liquids.

Be sure to record your observations.

(To the Teacher: Do not give any detailed or definite instructions since this is the
discovery approach.)

C. Group Work (Free Exploration)

You can now work on your own group. The leaders will get their materials
from the table.

Remember our standards for work.

Keep in mind the problem as you work with the group.

(to the Teacher: You can go around the different groups to find out how the pupils
are getting along. You can ask questions, as the need arises, to guide the pupils in
their exploration.)

D. Comparison and Abstraction (Free Discovery)

Each group will share their findings to the class.

We will record each group’s findings on this table on the blackboard. A

table, a shown, can be used.
Type of Surface

water
alcohol
oil

Look at the table and study the findings of each group.

Give your observations and findings, give the generalizations about the behavior
of these different liquids on the different types of surfaces.

E. Application

Get two other kinds of liquids.

Do the same activity on a rough surface and on a smooth surface.
Record your findings.
How can we make use of liquid drops in our daily cooking? In mixing
prescriptions in medicine?
In what other activities are liquid drops used at home? In gardening? Etc.

V. Evaluation
A. How did we work with our group members?
B. On a sheet of paper, do the following:
1. Draw how the three different liquid drops look like on each of the three
different surfaces?
2. Write a one-sentence description for each liquid drop for each surface.

VI. Assignment (Agreement/Homework)

A. Interview your mother. Ask her how she makes use of liquid drops in her cooking
or in any other activities.
B. Write a short report on the results of your interview with your mother.
A Lesson Plan in Science 4
(Inductive Method)

I. Objectives:
After the lesson, the students can:

a. define food chain;

b. identify the producers and consumers;
c. enumerate examples of food chain;
d. express the importance of connectedness through group interaction; and
e. demonstrate or act out a sample of food chain.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Food Chain
Reference: Integrated Science 6 Page: 33-38
Materials: Chart, pictures, mini posters
Values: connectedness
Skills: define, identify, enumerate and demonstrate

III. Procedure:

A. Introduction
1. House Rules
Good Morning Class! Good Morning Teacher

Do you still remember our house Yes, Teacher

rules?

And what are those? What is the first Stand up and arrange the chairs properly.
one?
Pick up the pieces of papers or trash below
And the second? the chairs.

Sit down and behave when a teacher is

Lastly? around.

Very good!
2. Review
So class, what have we discuss
yesterday? Yes, Carl? Teacher it’s all about the habitat of the
animals.
Correct, so today let’s start our day
with an activity which I believe the
row 2 are the presenter for today.

3. Motivation
(The row 2 starts to sing with actions
together with the other students)

B. Presentation
So class, I have here pictures in the
board. What do you see in the picture?
Yes, Claire?

Very good, what else? I see bird’s teacher

Correct, anything else? There is a grass teacher

Nice, so all of the answers are correct. There is a worm teacher

C. Discussion
Okay, so do you see arrows every part
of the animals and grass?

The arrows represent the cycle. You Yes, teacher

see that the worm eats the grass, while
the worm was being captured by the
bird. The bird will eat the worm and
when the bird will die, it will fall to
the ground and being decompose by
the small organisms. Did you get it?

The arrows mean that the cycle will Yes, teacher

still continue and will happen again,
what you have seen is what we called
a Food Chain.

D. Comparison and Abstraction Teacher what is a food chain?

Food Chain is a series of types of
living things in which each one uses
the next lower member of the series as
a source of food.
The plants are what we considered as
the Producers because they produce
first the food. In the picture which is
the producer? Yes, McCartney?

Very Good! The worm, the bird and The grass teacher
decomposers are what we called
Consumers. Did you get now?

Now, You and your friend were very

close friends like best friends. But
suddenly, you heard that your friend
tells you nasty things about you. What
will you do? Will you fight and make
a scene? Yes, Carl?

I would Privately talk to him teacher, to know

Very Good. It is good to have good if what they say is true.
connections with your friends because
if you don’t it will ruin your
friendship. Do you understand?

E. Generalization Yes, teacher.

So let’s go back to our topic, ca you
give me examples of a food chain and
write them in the board? I need 5
volunteers.

F. So for our activity, this rows will be

your groups. I want you to act out the
given examples food chain and present
this in the front.

IV. Assignment
Make an illustrations of 5 different food chains and put labels which are the producers
and the consumers. Draw this in your activity notebook.

Pre-School

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students can:
a. identify the kinds of shape;
b. determine the shape of an object
c. tell how many sizes have a certain shape
d. Show the importance of shapes through use of
manipulative;
e. Draw object that have different representations of
different shapes.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Different Kinds of Shape
Reference: Math page 12
Materials: pictures, charts
Value: Uniqueness
Skills: identifying, creating, creativity
Method: Inductive Method

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

A. Introduction
1. Setting of Standards
1.1 Let us pray
Lord thank you for all the
blessings that you have
given to us. In Jesus
name we pray AMEN.
Good morning teacher! Good morning
1.2 Good morning class! classmates. It’s nice to see you again.

Okay now take your

seats.
1. Review

Last time we discussed about

different kinds of colors, can
you name one example?

Yes John? Black teacher.

Correct, so now we will

continue another topic but
before that, I have here some
puzzles and all you need to do
is to assemble it, okay?

I will group you children into 4

groups. Each group will need to Yes teacher!
assemble the assigned puzzle, Me teacher!
the group that will finish first will
get a price. You want prices?

Okay I will give you 2 minutes

to assemble the puzzles. Time
starts now!

Shapes that children need to

assemble.
Now what do you think is
formed after you assemble the
puzzle?
Very good! What else?
How about other groups?

Okay, so based on what you

have assembles, what do you Circle teacher.
think is our next lesson today?

Triangle teacher.
Square teacher.
Shapes teacher.

Now what do you think is

formed after you assemble the
puzzle?
Very good! What else?
How about other groups?

Okay, so based on what you

have assembles, what do you
think is our next lesson today? A square teacher.

B. Presentation
A rectangle teacher.
So now I will show you some
pictures regarding to the pictures
assembled lately. A circle teacher.

A triangle teacher.
This is a square.
What shape is this?
A heart teacher.
This is a rectangle.
What shape is this?
A star teacher.
This is a circle.
What shape is this?

This is triangle.
What shape is this?

This is a heart.
What shape is this?
They are not the same teacher.
This is a star.
What shape is this?
Star teacher.
C. Discussion
Circle teacher.
Now class we already seen the
shapes. Now we will know more
about these shapes so,

What have you observed from the

shown pictures?

What shape do you think difficult

to draw?

What shape do you think easiest

to draw?

Children shapes are not the

same because they have
different role in putting them to Yes teacher.
create new object like for an
example:

A clock, its shape is circle in

which we can see what time is. A slice of cake teacher, its shape is
triangle.
Another example is a door, its
shape is rectangle where it can
help us keep our house close.
Right?

Who can give me another

example?

Yes Vean?
Very good!

D. Comparison and Abstraction

And since we already know the
different shapes.

Why do you think shapes are

important?
