(Checking of Attendance) (Students raise their hand and say present as

the teacher call in their name)

“Please pick up the pieces of paper (Students pick up the pieces of paper)

under your chair”

A. Drill

Before we start our new lesson this morning

let’s have first a game.

Do you love games? Yes ma’am

I will group you into 4 groups all we have to

do is to add the following polynomials.

1. ( 6x + 6) + (2x + 5) 1. 8x + 11

2. (2x + 3) (3x + 8) 2. 5x + 11
3. (x 2 + 4x +2) + (x2 +7x +4) 3. 2x 2 + 11x + 12

4. (8x + 5) + (3x + 7) 4. 2x 2 + 11x + 12

B. Review

Please get your assignment and we will check

it.

Direction: match column A & B by

subtracting polynomials.

1. (6x 2 + 15x + 10) – (4x2 + 8x + 8) a. x 13 + 2

2. (2x + 5) – (x + 3) b. 2x 2 +7x 2

3. (6x 2 + 4x + 3) – (5x2 +2x +2) c. X + 5

4. (8x + 10) – (7x + 5) d. 2x + 3

5. (7x + 4) – (5x + 1) e. x 2 + 2x + 1

B. Lesson Proper

a. Motivation

Class, I have here a picture at the chart.

What do you see in the picture? I see a window

Yes another? There is a girl beside the window.

Correct!

b. Presentation

This morning we will discuss about

multiplying polynomials. But let’s read (reading the objectives)

first our objectives.

Okay class, I have here a story problem

which is related to the picture that we

have seen while ago. Loren is beside the window. The length of

the rectangular window is represented by

(2x + 5) m and a width of (x+3) m. what is

the area of a rectangular window?

C. Comprehension check-up

Who is the character in the story? The character in the story is Loren

What are the lengths of the rectangular The length are represented by (2x+5)m +

window? (x+3)m

D. Analysis:

Class, going back to the story problem

that we have read a while ago.

What is asked in the story facts? It asked about the area of the rectangular

window.

What are given facts? The given facts are (2x+5)m length +

What is the mathematical sentence? (x+3)m width

The mathematical sentence is (2x+5) +

(x+3)

What is the first step? The first step is to use the FOIL Method.

What is the nest step? The next step is to multiply the first term.

What is the third step? The third step is to multiply the outer terms

What is the fourth step? The fourth step is to multiply the last terms

Okay who wants to try? then combine terms.

(2x+5) + (x+3)

(2x+5) + (x+3)

2x 2 +6x+5x+15

Correct! = 2x 2 + 11x + 15m2

E. Comparison & Abstraction

Class, try this on your seats, I will give you 1

minute to answer.

(𝑥 + 5)(2𝑥 + 4) (𝑥 + 5)(2𝑥 + 4)

2𝑥 2 + 4𝑥 + 10𝑥 + 20

=2𝑥 2 + 14𝑥 + 20

I will group you into 4 groups. Each group

will select a leader to explain your answer in

front of a class.

Is that clear? Yes! Ma’am!

Okay group 1 will answer #1 group 2 will

answer #2, group 3 will answer #3, and group

4 will answer #4.

Direction: multiply each expressions

1. (𝑥3 + 8)(2𝑥 + 4)

2. (8𝑥 + 8)(𝑥 + 3)

3. (𝑥 + 10)(3𝑥 + −2)

4. (9𝑥 − 3)(3𝑥 + 4)

Let’s have a group 1 Group 1

1. (𝑥3 + 8)(2𝑥 + 4)

6𝑥 2 + 12𝑥 + 16𝑥 + 32

6𝑥 2 + 2𝑥 + 32
2

3𝑥 2 + 14𝑥 + 16
Good! Let’s have group 2

Group 2

2. (8𝑥 + 8)(𝑥 + 3)

8𝑥 2 + 24𝑥 + 2𝑥 + 6
8𝑥 2 + 26𝑥 + 6
2

4𝑥 2 + 13𝑥 + 3

Group 3
Now let’s have group 3
3. (𝑥 + 10)(3𝑥 + −2)

3𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 + 30𝑥 − 20

3𝑥 2 + 28 − 20

Good! Now let’s have the group 4

Group 4

4. (9𝑥 − 3)(3𝑥 + 4)

27𝑥 2 − 36𝑥 − 9𝑥 − 12

27𝑥 2 + 27𝑥 − 12
2

9𝑥 2 + 4 − 4
F. Generalizations:

How do we multiply polynomials?

To multiply polynomials we can easily use

the FOIL method.

Correct!

Remember class that is finding or multiplying

polynomials we can use the FOIL method,

which is to multiply the First, Outer, Inner.

And the Last term.

Yes it is!
Is it clear?

G. Generalization:

Class this time we will have a contest. Each

group will have a representative to answer the

problem; I will give you first a time to answer

with your members after 1 minute the

representative from each group will write their

answer on the board.

A certain company will manufactures open

boxes with a length of (2𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 4) width

and a height of (2𝑥 + 10). Find the volume of

each box. Group 1

(2𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 4) (2𝑥 + 10)

2𝑥 2 + 8𝑥 + 3𝑥 + 12

(2𝑥 2 + 11𝑥 + 12)(2𝑥 + 10)

= 4𝑥 2 + 4𝑥 2 + 13𝑥 + 120

Group 2

(2𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 4) (2𝑥 + 10)

= 4𝑥 2 + 4𝑥 2 + 13𝑥 + 120

Group 3

(2𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 4) (2𝑥 + 10)

= 4𝑥 2 + 4𝑥 2 + 13𝑥 + 120

Group 4

(2𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 4) (2𝑥 + 10)

= 4𝑥 2 + 4𝑥 2 + 13𝑥 + 120

H. Evaluation

Direction: read and solve each problem

The length of a rectangle is (3𝑥 − 3)𝑚. The

width is (4𝑥 + 4)𝑚. What is the area? (3𝑥 − 3)(4𝑥 + 4)

12𝑥 2 + 19𝑥 − 18𝑚

Assignment:

Direction: find the product of the

polynomials.

1.(3𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 5)

2. (10𝑥 + 9)(𝑥 + 8)

3. (𝑥 + 7)(6𝑥 − 8)

4. (𝑥 + 5)(𝑥 + 2)

5. (10𝑥 + 5𝑦) + (2𝑥 + 3𝑦)
