Field assignment 1:

Teachers do follow certain procedures such as enforcing rules and punctuality. Teachers
and deans observe students and help enforce rules when students are not in class, such
as at lunch or during passing periods.
While not in class, at lunch or in passing periods, dress code is enforced at all times and
students are expected to be respectful and behave as they should to properly reflect the
school and its employees. Students are expected to return to class on time unless
otherwise instructed.
Specialists such as deans and councilors are located in the back of the main office.
Principal and assistants are located just off the main office.

The school, like most others, offers many different activities during as well as outside of
school. Things such as school clubs, student government or after school sports and
teams to name a few.
As far as partnerships go, the school displayed sponsorships for sports teams as well as
donors into school funds.
Parents are invited to participate in school activities through volunteering and
chaperoning school events.

11/29/17 Cheyenne High School 11th Grade English

In this classroom, there are 41 desks. All instructional material is located in the bookshelves and chrome
books are kept in a case near the door. If I could improve this particular classroom, I would declutter a
little bit. I would eliminate any extra desks and unnecessary tables and chairs.

As far as the arrangement goes, the main isle is blocked by the projector which gets in the way when
students are trying to move around.

I would say one of the strengths of this classroom is the way the desks face make it possible for all
students to see the white board and projector screen. Disadvantages of this classroom are that there is a
large number of students which makes the classroom seem cluttered and full.

In this class, there are 19 girls and 12 boys. They’re all in the 11th grade. There are a few students who
seem to be isolates. I think this student is an isolate because he didn’t join a group when prompted to
and he exhibits no interest in working with others. I noticed a few girls that most frequently participate
in class discussions more than others. The students in the back of the room seem to think they can get
away with being rowdy and clowning around but the teacher keeps intervening. No particular student
seems to receive more praise than any other. None of the students seem to be ignored by the teacher.

After observing, I found that students in this class are just average teenagers. This school seems very
similar to every other high school I’ve been to. The school is colorful and clean and filled with good
students with good potential.
