# 1. Unit Title : What is War?

Students should be able to use the given data


Thinking : Critical Thinking to develop his own ideas or solutions about a
topic/problem.

ATL Skill : Thorough development of ideas or solutions

Assessment Task : Justify your overall understanding about the War by writing 10-15
sentences on the topic mentioned below :

‘ When is a War “just”? How,, if at all, can we fight “justly”?’

Teaching : In the class we will be working on the reasons, need and effect of War. Without making
them read anything in the beginning, the class will be exploring the reasons on their own
reflecting the incidents when the disputes happened within them and then will try to connect it
with the bigger conflicts in the state.

# 2. Unit Title : Causes, Practice and Effects – WW 1

Students consistently and independently


Research Skills : Interpret , analyze and locate the appropriate information for their
evaluate information research tasks. They can easily distinguish
between primary and secondary
sources. They also understand the value and
limitation of the sources.

ATL Skill : Collect and analyse data to identify solutions and make informed decisions.

Assessment Task :
Students will be assigned one front of the war and a group. Students must research the assigned
front, given resources provided. Then students must create a plan to teach the battles, strategies,
and outcomes of that front of war.
Fronts are: Western, Eastern, Italian, Balkan and colonies.

Teaching : As a class, the teacher will teach the students about WW – 1. Research skills will be
discussed and the methods to finding out the correct sources from the internet and from the
library will be passed on to the students. Librarian can help in this process and can also
collaborate in the teaching sessions.

# 3. Unit Title : An In-depth Examination of the Inter-War Period

Social Skills : Responsibility Students should be able to understand their


role in a group and shall manage to fulfil their
responsibility understanding the team
dynamics and contribute meaningfully.

ATL Skill : Awareness about individual role, takes full responsibility for completing individual
task(s) and helps other team members when possible.

Assessment Task : Simulation of one peace treaty conference with grades based on authenticity or
representation of the peace conference during the inter-war period.
Examples : Paris Peace Conference, Geneva Conference, Locarno Treaties, etc…

Teaching : In the class we will go chronologically to understand the efforts made by the
international communities to attain peace or to avoid war. Students will try to simulate the entire
conferences by playing the role of different individuals/states and try to feel the responsibilities
individuals have while representing the state’s point of view.

# 4 Unit Title : Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy - Authoritarian & Single Party State

Communication Skills : Supporting Ideas Students should be able to have a clarity about
their own opinions and must be having enough
vocabulary to justify their ideas by supporting it
with a range of examples.

ATL Skill : Independently and consistently give detailed justification of the opinions and ideas with
a range of examples.

Assessment Task : Discussion/Debate : Students will discuss/debate about their knowledge and
understanding relating to the Origins and development of authoritarian and single-party states

Teaching : We will discuss and express our understanding of the chronological framework for the
development of authoritarian and single-party states and students will also demonstrate an
understanding of historical processes: cause and effect; continuity an change. In the process
compare and contrast of the historical ideas & developments and/or events would be inevitable.

# 5. Unit Title : Causes, Practices, Effects - WW - II

Students should be able to have a clarity about


Self Management Skill : Reflection their own plan of delivering their ideas by
collecting information before or on the due
date. They will arrange and deliver the lecture
in the class to others.

ATL Skill : Consistently and independently identify strengths and weaknesses in my own work and
set goals to improve.

Assessment Task : Flip Teaching : Students are going to prepare a lesson plan for a topic and
deliver it in the class.

Teaching : Students will be learning about the years of WW – 2 ((1939-1945) and will be focusing
on the events and individuals who/what could be understood as the reason/cause for WW – 2.
