1. Three (3) kinds of verb
Transitive verb, Intransitive verb, Linking verb
 Transitive Verbs – need a receiver; -answer the question “what”or
“who”after the verb.
e.g. Despite the problems, Filipinos find humor in almost everything.
 Intransitive Verbs – do not need a receiver.
e.g. Because of exhaustion, Henry slept immediately upon arriving home.
 Linking Verbs – is , are, was, were
 Special Linking Verbs – sound, feel, appear, smell, grow, etc.

Former Philippine President Corazon Aquino died last August 1, 2009.
- S-TV-DO
Many Filipinos showed their sympathy to the Aquino family.
Answer the question WHAT/WHO
- S-TV-IO-DO
The people offered Cory their prayers when she was still sick.
Indirect Object tells us “to whom” or “for whom” the action is done.
 - S-TV-DO-OC
Many people consider Cory the Mother of Philippine Democracy.
Object Complement follows and modifies or refers to a direct object.
It can be a noun or adjective or any word acting as a noun or
adjective.
- S-LV-C
Subject Complement – is a phrase or clause that follows a linking verb
complements, or completes, the subject of the sentences by either
renaming it or describing it.
