Assessment Guidelines
Starter Section

Child will be assessed generally for:


Playgroup  meeting new people e.g. greeting with a smile
 body coordination e.g. walking independently

Child will be assessed generally for:


 socialization e.g. greeting with a smile and shaking hands
 speech e.g. speaking clearly, using understandable words
Pre-nursery
 eye-hand coordination e.g. fixing pegs/ blocks properly
 concentration e.g. staying on task for some time
 confidence e.g. carrying out given tasks independently

Child should be able to:

 understand and follow simple instructions in English


Nursery  recognize, name and match colours and objects
 draw a picture and talk about it
 talk about a shown picture
 trace a pattern

Child should be able to:

 read books of the same level as Ladybird ‘Read It Yourself’ level 2 / Oxford Reading Tree stages
2 and 3 with comprehension
Kindergarten
 understand and talk in simple English
 talk about a given picture, in English
 relate number to number value, up to 9
 recognize and write the beginning sounds of given pictures

Child should be able to:
 understand and speak in English
 recognize and write beginning and ending sounds of given pictures
 read books of the same level as Ladybird ‘Read It Yourself’ level 4 / Oxford Reading Tree stages
3 and 4 with comprehension
Grade I
 write four sentences in English about a given picture, independently
 solve simple addition and subtraction sums
 solve simple story sums / word problems
 ‫اردو کے سادہ اور اسان جملے پڑھنا‬
 ‫اردو کے حروف تہجی کی پہچان کرنا اور لکھنا‬

Child should be able to:

 understand and speak in English


 recognize and write the beginning, middle and ending sounds of a given picture
 read books of the same level as Ladybird ‘Read It Yourself’ level 5 / Oxford Reading Tree stages
5 and 6 with comprehension

 write 5 to 6 sentences in correct English about a given topic / picture


Grade II
 identify and use nouns and verbs in sentences
 read, understand & answer the questions of a given passage (English)
 do addition and subtraction up to 99
 solve simple addition and subtraction word problems / story sums
 ‫اردو کے دیئے گئے ذخیرہ الفاظ استعمال کرکے سادہ جملے بنانا‬
 ‫حروف کومال کر الفاظ بنانا اور الفاظ کے حروف کو الگ کرنا‬

Child should be able to:

 read books of the same level as Ladybird “Key Word Reading Scheme 12a, 12b, 12c” / Oxford
Reading Tree stages 8 and 9 with comprehension.

 understand and speak in English.


Grade III  write 6 to 7 sentences in correct English/Urdu on a given topic.
 read, and do written comprehension of an unseen passage (English/Urdu).
 tell place value in HTU. E.g. 354 = 3 hundreds, 5 tens and 4 units.
 do simple addition, subtraction, multiplication & division sums and word problems up to 999.
 do mental math e.g. adding in fives, simple fractions, 3 times table, etc.
