Release Announcement

Dear Reader,

We are pleased to announce the release

of MicroSCADA Pro SYS600 9.4.
This release enhances cyber security
with in-depth protection and centralized
administration. IEC 61850 Edition 2 is
now fully supported. New applications
include the Sequencer Tool to manage
more complex operations, and the
Pipeline Library to broaden the
application domain.

Introduction

MicroSCADA Pro is a product family focused on power system automation such as substation automation,
electrical SCADA, distribution management applications, and industrial power management.
The products of the MicroSCADA Pro family are:
· MicroSCADA Pro Control System SYS600
· MicroSCADA Pro Compact System SYS600C
· MicroSCADA Pro Distribution Management System DMS600

New Features

IEC 61850 Ed2 Support

SYS600 9.4 is IEC 61850 Ed.2 compliant.

Sequencer Tool

SYS600 Sequencer is software enabling the creation and execution of switching device command
sequences. The sequences can be used to build more-complex operational tasks such as switching
busbars or performing load-shedding operations.
The sequences are created with the Sequence Configuration tool. For each step the command to be
executed is defined, together with optional precondition and post condition checks or delays. Currently
supported commands are switching device open/close command or message box display.
The sequences can be started in several ways:
• by the operator using the Sequence Execution tool
• from an event
• based on time or calendar schedule
• by a command from a remote control center via COM500i gateway
• from DMS600 e.g. for fault isolation and power restoration

Enhanced Cyber Security

Protection of the system against malicious attack is improved in various ways, while a new tools and
functions make the configuration tasks as easy as possible.
Among the new features are:
• A new tool for deploying Windows security with preconfigured settings for various computer types
such as servers and workstations
• Encrypted communication between SYS600 nodes with learning mode for easy configuration
• Central User Account management with SDM600
• Role based access control
• Secure logging of user session events with reporting to SDM600 or 3rd party security systems
• Access control and authentication on the OPC Server interface

Pipeline Library

The Pipeline Library makes it more efficient to use SYS600 for monitoring and control of various pipeline
processes such as gas or water distribution, district heating/cooling, water treatment, etc.
The Library contains the process control functionality and user interface components such as dialogs and
process display symbols including pipes, tanks, valves, pumps, which can be combined to design and
build the applications.

OPC UA Server

SYS600 Historian now comes with optional OPC UA server which is the next generation version from
popular OPC industry standard interoperability specifications. The OPC UA server is used to publish data
to 3rd party systems using the OPC UA interface.

Control Panel

A new control panel that collects basic administration tasks including:

• SYS600 service activation and supervision
• Application management
• Base system configuration (SYS_BASCON.COM, SHUTDOWN.CIN, SYS_CONFIG.PAR) and
device driver handling
• License handling including license validation and installation

Measurement Reports and Trends Display

New and improved features:

• Curve highlighting helps to associate curves with the corresponding legend item
• Leap hour data created by the switch from daylight saving time (DST) to the standard time is now
shown in the tabular view for day reports
• In-Day periods defined in the calendar can be selected for the summary information

Process Display object highlight

Clickable objects in process displays can now be highlighted with a frame when the mouse hovers on top
of the object.

Process Database engineering

A new Copy/Paste feature for BAY Process Objects has been implemented.
With this feature, available from the Object Navigator object tree, it is easy to copy a fully configured and
tested bay Process Object group. During the paste operation some attributes will be modified based on
user input: Logical Name (LN), Object Identifier (OI), Unit Number (UN), Item name (IN), Process Object
group configuration data (CD).
It’s now also possible to edit the Object Identifiers for a selected group of Process Objects by levels in a
single step.
