As an IELTS Teacher, I form part of the Service Team

BDS Institute of English. As teacher my job is to promote
and ensure quality training of English language.
Training IELTS for students includes classroom
management, coursework materials, homework
assignments and preparing classroom.

I contributed to the Students learning by adopting

distintive teaching techniques, documenting all lessons,
group discussions and monitoring students troubles., along
with the other Teachers, guarantee that the Student is given
enough opportunity to develop their four key language
skills and that you guide them throughout their course to
achieve an improved IELTS score.

My strong initiative and exceptional skills, combined with

my abilities to work well in any situation, allow me to play
crucial role in teaching environment. I believe I will make
immediate noticeable impact on students.

Challenges Every Intern Face

The first day impression
It’s your first day of joining and you are dressed formally
according to your best. You are excited on the other hand
you are nervous too.
Awkward Introductions
You are at your office and you meet various people. There
are too many names to be remembered. You can say them
hello but you remain quiet.
Too Many Information Absorptions
You get brief intro of company, what they do. The
information may be too vast to get understood at once. All
the data in your mind gets jumbled and you are confused.
Unnoticed Work
You might be doing very well but you find yourself in a
position where your part is not appreciated. That can
clearly be discouraging.

Common Internship Challenges: How to do the work?

You are assigned with work. There are different ways to

do the work but you get confused. You do not get enough
guidelines.

The perception that you don’t know/you know

Often your supervisor may perceive that either you know
everything or you don’t know anything about a certain
task. This can shake your confidence.
Understanding the office environment
It takes time to understand office environment. During the
early days you try to observe and understand. While some
departments may be rigid others may be flexible.
Understanding teamwork

Teamwork is very important asset to perform a task. The

opinions of different people may vary which may lead to
miscommunications, mishaps.

Things learnt during the course

Never Stop Learning and Change Will Become Your
Comfort Zone
A person remains student throughout his life. You never
stop learning. It makes easier to become flexible when
unexpected things happen. Learning new things bring
happiness to your life.
Don’t be Scared of New Tasks
Performing new tasks makes new learning, builds
confidence and eliminates fear. You can accomplish new
heights by conquering you fear. The more you try new
things the more you learn about yourself.
Ask Questions
Never be afraid to ask questions. We learn about life
through questions. More we ask questions the better
answers we get. Questions make you open and wiser.
Asking questions create happiness. The quality if life
depends upon questions we ask.
It’s Okay to Make a Mistake
Everyone makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect. Mistakes are
inevitable. You can learn from your mistakes. You can try
again by learning from your mistakes. Mistakes create
compassion. Mistakes help you grow as a person. Mistakes
fuel you.
Don’t take it Personal
When someone says something which makes you feel
insulted. Taking things personally may cause you to feel
inadequate, ashamed, or even angry. It may lower your
morale and self-confidence.
Self-awareness
Self-awareness is important because when you are aware
of yourself you have better understanding of yourself. You
may consider yourself as unique person. It creates positive
mind approach. It makes you a good listener. It builds your
confidence in yourself.
Have Fun
And most important - have fun! Always enjoy what you
are doing. By this approach the task you are doing will not
appear burden to you and you will perform your task to
you full potential.

Purpose of Internship
From the student viewpoint, an internship helps with
career development by providing real work experiences
that provide students with opportunities to explore their
interests and develop professional skills.

About the company

BDS Institute of English is an introduction to itself in

Excellence and Quality control. Classes are conducted
by Dr.Roma (PhD English) with an effective and long
working experience at Khalsa College Amritsar and Guru
Nanak Dev University Amritsar.
Duration

I officially started internship on 15th of June 2018 and

continued for an extension of fifteen days till 31st July
2018.
Allotted work

I was allotted the work to train the students and help them
with polishing their skills to crack the Ielts tests with good
bands.
Lesson’s from functional English classes that helped me
during my internship.

Speaking skills- Excellent communication skills prevents

misunderstanding. It gives clarity and direction which
helps me while interacting clients.
Proper use of pronunciation-Functional English helped
me while using of words with proper pronunciation
without any blunders while interacting with clients.

The acknowledgement of having a good speaking skill to

communicate is relatable to the topic covered about the
language and communication I, our functional English
classes. (2nd semester)
Functional English as a subject helpful or not?

In my opinion functional English as a subject is very

helpful. English has great reach and is taught all over the
world. It helped me to communicate in new language.
Functional English provide essential knowledge, skills and
enables you to act confidentially. English is very important
which is further required in career progression. It provides
with particular skills and vocabulary which one need in
their career. It also gives command on fluency and
pronunciation of any language like English which helps to
showcase the skills in English language in their career.
English as removed communication barrier between
people of different region, cultures, cast, nations etc. Also
functional English as subject open doors to many career
lines like command on taking interview of big person,
journalist, and radio companies etc. by providing
information about them.
