Chapter 1

1 Introduction
This guide describes how to install EZSurv™ 2.88 on your Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 PC.

1.1 Software Distribution

The EZSurv™ 2.88 software distribution includes the following software programs. Where applicable, the
type of license key required to operate the software is mentioned.

1.2 Documentation
The software documentation is available in the Doc folder on the EZSurv™ CD. It is also available from the
Windows Start menu VGI Solutions > EZSurv 2.88 > Documentation.

> Contents menu in EZSurv™. Additional documentation published after the release may be available as
downloads and knowledge base articles from the OnPOZ Technical Support Area accessible from

1.3 System Requirements

2 Installing EZSurv™
2.1 Installing EZSurv™ on the PC
IMPORTANT before you install: Uninstall any previous version of EZSurv™ on this PC.
From the Windows XP Control Panel,
Panel select Add or Remove Programs and then pick OnPOZ EZSurv from
the list. Choose Remove
Remove to uninstall EZSurv™.
From the Windows Vista or Windows 7 Control Panel,
Panel select Programs and Features and then pick the
OnPOZ EZSurv from the list. Choose Uninstall/Change to uninstall EZSurv™.

From the EZSurv™ CD double-clicks setup.exe to start the installation.

The installation is started. Wait a few seconds until the InstallShield

Wizard window is displayed. Click Next to continue.

Read the license agreement. If you approve this license agreement click on

Select Complete (advanced users may select Custom instead) and click

A progress bar will indicate the percentage of completion of the

installation. Click Finish once the installation is complete.

2.2 Summary of the Installed Shortcuts

After the installation has completed, the following shortcuts will be available from the Windows Start menu,
under Programs.

VGI Solutions > EZSurv 2.88 Starts EZSurv™ on your PC. EZSurv™ requires a hardware
license key or software license for the GNSS receiver(s).

VGI Solutions > GNSS Analyser 2.88 > GNSS Opens the GNSS Analyser application.

2.3 Summary of the Installed Files

After the installation has completed, the following folders on your PC will contain most of the installed files:

• C:\Program Files\VGI Solutions\GNSS Analyser
• C:\Program Files\VGI Solutions\Doc
• C:\Program Files\Common Files\VGI Solutions Shared

2.4 Licensing
You can install EZSurv™ on as many Windows PC as desired by you a license to operate the software.
• To license EZSurv™ using a hardware key, simply plug the key into your computer, then run EZSurv™.
• To license EZSurv™ using a software license, please refer to the information below.

2.4.1 Software Licensing

The EZSurv™ software licensing mechanism is based on the ID of the GNSS receiver used to collect data on
the field. Licensing your EZSurv™ software requires little or no action on your part as long as you collect data
on the field using GNSS receivers that are registered by your dealer for use in EZSurv™.

Please refer to the EZSurv™ User Guide for information about the licensing rules and user interface in
EZSurv™.

The following types of GNSS receivers are supported for software licensing by EZSurv™:
• The following receivers used under EZField™ or EZTag CE™:
o SubX™;
o NovAtel DL-V3;
o NovAtel DL4;
o Hemisphere Crescent;
o Hemisphere Eclipse;
o Altus APS-3;
o NavCom SF-2110;
o NavCom SF-3050;
o ublox, SIRF and Garmin receivers, under some conditions. Please contact your dealer for
information.
