Low Voltage Disconnect (L VD)

Installation Instructions
1. Determine which loads are to be switched by the model 137XXX050/137XXX100.

2. Disconnect the battery or batteries following the vehicle manufacturers recommended procedures.

3. Mount the L VD in a convenient location near the batteries, in the cab, in the sleeper cabin or a storage area, if applicable. If the
L VD is mounted in the battery box, a corrosion inhibitor should be applied to ALL of the terminals and electrical connections after
the installation is complete.

Connector Instructions (Delphi Packard Hardware: Mating Connector Housing-#12064769. Mating Pin-#12047767,
Connector Pin Lock-#12064771':

Using 16 gauge wire. strip the end and insert into the terminal connector. Crimp the terminal connector with the
appropriate crimping tool. Insert the terminal connector into the appropriate position in the housing (female of the
connector'. Once al/ the terminals are in place insert the two secondary locks.

4. Ground Connection - PIN B: Connect to a good chassis ground or directly to the battery negative (-). For best results, connect
the ground terminal directly to the battery negative (-). Ground must be connected for the unit to function properly.

5. VIN Connection: Using 8 gauge/50A or 4 gauge/100A copper wire, connect the VIN terminal directly to the battery positive (+). A
50 amP/100 amp circuit breaker is recommended in the battery line. Install the circuit breaker near the battery.

6. VOUT Connection: Using 8 gauge/50A or 4 gauge/100A wire, connect the VOUT terminal to the loads to be disconnected by the
L VD. It is recommended that these loads be protected by a fuse or circuit breaker. For example, if the loads to be disconnected
are Class 8 truck sleeper cab loads, each load or each load branch should have its own fuse or circuit breaker protection. If the
loads are newly installed loads, it is recommended that a fuse block be installed between the L VD and the loads. If the loads to be
disconnected are existing loads, a fuse b/oc,'~may aiready be installed. in either case the switched output (VOUT) of the LVD
should connect to the power input of the fuse distribution block (see the connection diagram).
Unit Connector Shown
7. Sense Connection - PIN E: Connect the sense connection to the battery positive (+). The
L VD uses the sense connection as the voltage reference pOint and any voltage loss in this
connection will cause the L VD to disconnect prematurely. If the connection to VIN is of V·SENSE
sufficient gauge wire and does not have significant voltage losses, sense can be connected (SIGNAL)
directly to VIN. Sense must be connected for operation.
INT ALARM
8. Manual Override (O/R) (Optional) - PIN K: Utilizing the Manual Override will either keep the
unit on continuously or off continuously. To manually connect the loads, connect O/R to a
positive voltage. To disconnect the loads, connect O/R to ground (See connection diagram).
A typical use for the Manual Override would be for vehicle storage. It is recommended that the Manual Override ON function not
be made readily available unless absolutely necessary. Overriding the disconnect function will defeat the purpose of the LVD.
The Override ON function was designed primarily for emergency use only.

Alarm Connection - Internal or External: The L VD has provisions for an internal alarm connection or an external alarm
connection. Use the internal alarm connection if the L VD is mounted in a suitable location for the operator to hear the
alarm. Use the external alarm connection if the alarm ;s remotely mounted.

9. Ext. Alarm Connection (Optional) - PIN C: This connection is used for a remote alarm which draws a maximum of 150mA. This
output gives a warning indicating that the loads will be disconnected in approximately one minute. Connect the (-) side of alarm to
PIN C. When the (+) side of the alarm is connected to VIN (Signal) - PIN D, the alarm will be pulsed indefinitely while in the
disconnect mode. When the (+) side of the alarm is connected to VOUT (Signal) - PIN J, the alarm will be pulsed for one minute
prior to shut down (see connection diagram).the housing (female of the connector).

10. Int. Alarm Connection (Optional) - PIN A: This connection is used for an internal alarm built into the L VD. This output gives a
warning indicating that the loads will be disconnected in approximately one minute. When PIN C is connected to VIN (Signal) -
PIN D, the alarm will be pulsed indefinitely while in the disconnect mode. When PIN C is connected to VOUT (Signal) - PIN J, the
alarm will be pulsed for one minute prior to shut down (see connection diagram).

Alarm 1 :Alarm sounds one minute into the low voltage sequence to notify the user that a shutdown is impending. Sound pulsates with
a 0.5 second on and 0.5 second off repitition pattern.

Alarm 2:0ne minute and 30 seconds into the low voltage sequence, the alarm duty cycle changes to 200ms on and 200ms off.

Alarm 3:Two minutes into the low voltage cycle, the LVD disconnects the loads. If the alarm is connected to the battery, a short chirp
will sound every 2 seconds letting the user know the loads have been shutdown. To disable this feature, connect the alarm to
the output of the unit. The alarm will shutdown with the loads.
