Video Streaming in Cloud

The era of cloud computing reigns with advancements in technology, the technology provides
various services to the human’s need and also it urges the more necessity for the emerging
technology. The media data has grown over years in all streams of technology. Video and
images plays a vital role in communication around the glob. The usage of mobile device
along with media has boomed year age of technology. Here cloud computing comes into
play.
Video streaming is a type of media streaming in which the data from a video file is
continuously delivered via the Internet to a remote user. It allows a video to be viewed online
without being downloaded on a host computer or device.
Cloud video streaming can be defined as video streaming or sharing of video using cloud
technology. Streaming technology can be used for viewing live video, video on demand,
video hosting and live playlist. In cloud video streaming, the video or audio content is
streamed from cloud instead of downloading the video at the user device. Video streaming
landscapes includes live video, live playlist, video on demand and video hosting. Live
streaming has great impact on globalization as it is facilitating people to know other parts of
the world. It is a whole new exposure to varied cultures, tradition, food, sport and many
more. It is primarily impacting the entertainment industry owing to the busy life schedule,
people are able to watch their favorite TV show, news, plays, speeches and sports. It has also
empowered education industry by live streaming the lecture or distant education.
As HTTP streaming is increasingly employed by major content providers, more and more
video streaming systems have been built and deployed with HTTP streaming. As a result, the
sharing of user generated content (UGC) (e.g., YouTube) has fundamentally changed the
video streaming landscape, where regular users dynamically generate the video contents to be
uploaded to the servers. The highly centralized design of datacenters had catapulted the
popularity of cloud computing since 2008, and had embraced a design philosophy that is
exactly the opposite to that used by peer-to-peer systems. Attracted by the abundant
networking resources in the cloud and the on-demand “pay-asyou-go” pricing model, an
increasing number of video streaming services have been hosted by the cloud computing
platforms. For example, Netflix, one of the leading video streaming service providers, has
been reported to resort to the cloud service. As a result, the design of network topologies in
datacenters has quickly become an active area of research, drawing significant research
attention since 2008. Zhu et al introduced the main concepts of multimedia cloud computing
and presented a cloud-based video streaming framework. Such a paradigm shift to cloud
computing, in the industry and academia alike, has superseded the research interests in peer-
to-peer streaming.
In Video streaming procedure, it clip data file is sent to the end individual in a (more or less)
continuous flow. It is simply a strategy for shifting information such that it can be prepared as
a stable and ongoing flow and it is known as Streaming or encoded movie that is sent across
information system is known as Streaming. Streaming movie is a series of "moving images"
that are sent in compacted form over the Internet and shown by the audience as they appear.
If a web individual is getting the information as sources then he/she does not have to wait
around to obtain a large data file before viewing it clip or enjoying the sound.
