REFLECTION

In our numerous attempt and collaboration to finish this scale model of “Papyrus cluster
column” which is a bud type column, we noticed that the column wasn’t that easy as we think.
But in this process we experienced and learned a lot of things as a group.

First, we experienced a negative outcome for not having a sufficient knowledge about the
column. But, we learned that if we have sufficient knowledge about what we are doing, a good
output can be achieved.

Second, we learned that collaborating and sharing ideas as a group can provide more
knowledge, because there is something that one might know and might not know.

Third, through hardships there can be glory, if we put real effort and time management
with a proper planning we can assure the success for the task.

Lastly, by continuous probing and testing our skills will enhance beyond of what we
think we can.
This is the first day of revising our scale model. And, we are basically sticking to the plan
that we did. In this plan, we referred to the book “Vitruvius – The Ten Books of Architecture”.
We made a mould using PVC pipes to molten Plaster of Paris to make a more accurate base for
carving the column.

This photo was the time that we are carving to produce the “Papryus Cluster Column’s
shapes and entasis”.

This is the photo of how we made the capital part of the column. By using a mould and
carving we achieved the desired shape for this capital.
This photo was the time that we cut the column drum by drum after we carved and this time we
also made a DIY mould for the joints for the drum (the male joints).

This photo was the making of another part of the joint (the female joints) for the drum; to make
this we also applied a carving technique by making a enough square hole for the male joints of
the drum.
This photo was the time that we accomplished doing every part of the column, the last part of
this process was to put color on the column.
This is our photo; the group who did the scale model of “Papyrus-cluster column (bud type) with
finished product photo of our scale model.
