To evaluate the reading proficiency level of pupils and to measure the pupils’ reading comprehension level.

The pupils read the passage for his/her grade level and answer questions about the story read.

Write the l-code for each.

Give the standards in oral and silent reading.
Motivate the pupils to be interested in the passage which will put him/her at ease during reading.
Ask pupils: What are the things you do to improve your reading skills?
Ready the materials needed to conduct the PHIL-IRI.
Distribute to the pupils a copy of the short story they are going to read. Let them accomplish all the personal
information. (Name, Grade & Section)
All pupils should start reading at the same time. Begin timing only when the pupils start reading the passage.

the pupil’s score on the space provided.
