Fault Code 113

Electronic Step Timing Control (STC) Circuit

CODES REASON EFFECT

Fault Code: 113 High voltage or open circuit Electronic STC valve stuck in advance and
PID(P), SID(S): S20 detected at electronic step timing loss of engine power.
FMI: 3 control (STC) driver pin 20 of the
Lamp: On main engine harness electronic
SRT: 00-619 control module (ECM) connector
when electronic STC is off or in
normal timing.

Electronic Step Timing Control (STC) Circuit

Circuit Description:
The electronic STC option allows the electronic control module (ECM) to control the STC valve, through the main
engine harness, determining when the engine timing moves from advance to normal timing. The ECM utilizes the rail
pressure input signal or the rail pressure and engine speed sensor input signals to determine the shift point.

Component Location:
The electronic STC control valve is mounted on the left side of the engine.

Shop Talk:
Electronic STC valve coil resistance:
12-VDC solenoid = 6 to 10 ohms
24-VDC solenoid = 26 to 40 ohms
This fault code can be caused by a short circuit to a voltage source, broken wire, or loose connection.
