given a facilities tour to become better
oriented with their learning areas.
A Student Life Assembly was held by Mr. Ian Arevalo to discuss reminders and
policies that the office will be strictly implementing, including but not limited to
absences, social media usage and gift-giving. Students were then asked to form groups and
come up with a sustainable service action project that may be implemented in the later
months. Following this activity, students were given an ATL Skills workshop involving
communication in the Multi-purpose Hall.

The rest of the week was spent giving orientations and demonstrations to several
IB MYP classes simultaneously. Subject orientations, design demonstrations and guidance
and college counselling orientations were among the activities being done. This was
followed by an academic assembly on assessment policy held and students were asked to
create clothing made from newspaper within a given time. ATL workshops about self-
management and thinking were held in the afternoon and students participated in
activities that tested their time management and thinking skills.
An ATL workshop on Research was held in the college auditorium on July 5
focusing on the academic honesty policy of IB (plagiarism, collusion, copying), correct
citations using the APA style as well as the proper timing for citation usage.
Learning-to-Learn Week

Curriculum Day
July 26, 2019 (Friday)
Curriculum Day for CKSC’s IB-MYP community was held on July 26, 2019.
Parents of the current MYP batches were invited to attend this event and given the
experience of a day in the life of their children in the IB. A total of 6 subject groups led by
their respective teachers presented tasks for parents to do, and parents roamed from
room to room completing their tasks within the designated time frame. After the fun and
informative immersion, parents were asked to write down their thoughts and reflections
about the event on a piece of paper. The results showed an overwhelming amount of
positive responses from parents and reflected their well-wishes for a continuously
progressive IB community in the school.

Hokkien Session
August 14, 2019 (Wednesday)
The IB MYP students as well as faculty attended their first Hokkien session on
August 14, 2019. Hokkien sessions shall be held once a month and serves as an activity
that will encourage students to brush up on the Hokkien language. Led by the Chinese
instruction teachers, this session tackled the topic of the Mooncake Festival. Students
participated in casual conversation about buying and eating mooncake, and a speaking
activity for both the students and faculty followed suit. Both parties were formed into
groups and given a set of words related to the mooncake festival. Each group had to come
up with a dialogue with every member (including faculty) having at least one line
delivered in Hokkien. Several volunteers performed their speeches in front of their
audience and both students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the performances.
Parent Workshop 1
August 24, 2019 (Saturday)
Filipino Week for this year was celebrated on the 29th and 30th of August, and was
jam-packed with activities and performances honoring the Filipino language and heritage.
The MYP students participated in Literature Workshops by Alab and Sinag Collective
and eagerly listened to an author talk by Mr. Jayson Mondragon, writer of the popular
ABS-CBN show “Kadenang Ginto”. Aside from battling it out in a Quiz Bowl and
performing their hearts out in the Open Mic Session, students also enjoyed the
celebration through exciting games in a culminating activity of Palarong Pinoy.
