Introduction
This guide provides instructions to install and uninstall the bundled installation for Galileo Desktop
2.60.3 and Travelport Smartpoint 8.2.
Installing Galileo Desktop is a prerequisite for installing Travelport Smartpoint, so use this installation
if you:
▪ Do not have either Galileo Desktop or Travelport Smartpoint installed on your computer.
▪ Have an earlier version Galileo Desktop installed on your computer.
Why do I need to install Galileo Desktop if I am using only Travelport Smartpoint?
Galileo Desktop provides communications software and other functionality that is also used by
Smartpoint. If you use only Smartpoint, Galileo Desktop runs silently in the background on your
computer.
If your computer already has Galileo Desktop 2.60.3 installed, and you only need to update to
Smartpoint 8.2, the separate Smartpoint 8.2 update is recommended. However, if you do choose to
install the full bundled Galileo Desktop/Smartpoint installation, the bundled installation files will
overwrite any existing installation files and install successfully.
What’s New
Between Galileo Desktop 2.60.3/Travelport Smartpoint v8.1 and Galileo Desktop 2.60.3/Travelport
Smartpoint v8.2, the following updates apply:
▪ Analytics are automatically enabled and sent to Travelport. Usage and performance
information is used to help improve Travelport Smartpoint.
▪ New features and functionality were also added to the Travelport Smartpoint product for the
8.2 release. See the Product Advisory for Travelport Smartpoint v8.2 for details.
Technical Requirements
Please confirm the following software, hardware, and system requirements before installing Travelport
Smartpoint v8.2.
The following minimum and recommended requirements apply to desktop installation of Travelport
Smartpoint. Recommended specifications vary based on the environment in which Travelport
Smartpoint is deployed. As a general guideline:
▪ Low specifications assume that Travelport Smartpoint is running alone.
▪ Medium specifications assume that Travelport Smartpoint is running with other typical office
products.
▪ High specifications assume that Travelport Smartpoint is running with numerous other
software products.
Operating System The Microsoft® Windows operating system must support Microsoft .NET
Framework 4.6.2 or later:
▪ Windows 7 Service Pack 1
▪ Windows Server 2008 R2
▪ Windows 8.0 or Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 is recommended. A free update from Windows 8.0 to
Windows 8.1 is available.
▪ Windows 10
These Windows 10 updates are recommended:
Windows 10 Anniversary (includes .NET Framework 4.6.2)
Windows 10 Creators (includes .NET Framework 4.7)
Windows 10 Fall Creators (includes .NET Framework 4.7.1)
Note: Windows 10 Student (10 S) is NOT compatible with Travelport
Smartpoint.
▪ Windows 2012 or Windows 2012 R2
Important!
Other versions of Microsoft Windows, including Windows XP and Windows
Vista, are NOT compatible with Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later. The
Travelport Smartpoint v8.1 installation will stop if the version of Windows is
not support.
See the “Software and Hardware Guidelines” section for Client Installations in
the Travelport Smartpoint v8.1: Technical Installation Guide for more detailed
information about compatibility for specific operating systems and updates.
Software Framework Microsoft® .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later. (.NET Framework 4.6.2 is included
in the Travelport Smartpoint installation.)
Processor Performance is based on RAM and CPU speed.
▪ Travelport Smartpoint has been tested successfully to work well with
an I5, I7, or Xeon class or equivalent dual/quad core processor.
▪ Minimum available capacity varies by environment:
▪ Low: 2 GHz
▪ Medium: Dual Core
▪ High: Quad Core or greater
▪ Travelport Smartpoint supports GPU Acceleration.
Pre-Installation Tasks
This Installation Guides assumes that the following tasks are complete before you begin this
installation. If these pre-installation tasks are not complete, see the “Prerequisites” section in
the Technical Installation Guide for more information and backup instructions.
Before this installation, confirm that the following tasks are completed.
Hardware and Software Confirm that minimum technical requirements are met for hardware and
Requirements software. See Before You Begin
Administrative Rights Confirm that the computer is signed on with administrative rights to the
Microsoft Windows operating system.
Depending on an agency’s computer and network setups, agents may or may
not sign on to their computer with administrator access. If you do not have
administrative rights or do not know the status of your sign on, please contact
your agency’s Travelport Smartpoint Administrator or technical support for
assistance.
Plug-Ins and Companion Confirm that any plug-ins or companion software that is not produced or
Software reviewed by Travelport is compatible with .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later.
Standalone Smartpoint and If Smartpoint will be implemented as standalone Smartpoint or with Galileo
Galileo Desktop Hidden Desktop hidden, confirm that any third-party scripts and applications are
compatible with this configuration of Smartpoint.
2. Click Sign In to enter your ASK Travelport/My Travelport user name and password. If you do
not have ASK Travelport/My Travelport credentials, click Register to request registration
instructions.
3. To locate the Galileo Desktop 2.60.3/Travelport Smartpoint 8.2 Bundled installation, either:
▪ Link directly to the installation page at:
https://www.travelportmarketplace.com/Product/Travelport-Smartpoint-82-Bundled-
Installer.
▪ Click your sign in name and select My Solutions. Then, select Travelport Smartpoint
Bundled Installer 8.2 from the list of available options.
5. Click AGREE AND DOWNLOAD NOW to confirm the terms and conditions.
An option to open or save the download files may display. Depending on your browser, these
download options may vary.
▪ Click Save to save the installation file to the Windows Downloads folder. The location
of the Downloads folder may vary depending on your operating system and Windows
configuration.
▪ Click the Save arrow, then select Save As, to download the installation file to another
location for the downloaded file.
8. Right-click the installation file and select Extract All. Because the installation file is
downloaded as a zip file, you must extract the executable (.exe) file before beginning the
installation.
The extraction destination message is displayed. By default, the .exe file is extracted to the
same folder that contains the zip file, which is the Downloads folder in this example.
9. Optional. Click Browse to select another location for the extracted file.
10. Click Extract. By default, the installation file (.exe) is extracted to the same folder as the zip
file.
12. Double-click Smartpoint and Galileo Desktop 8.2.exe to open the bundled installation. See
Installing Galileo Desktop and Travelport Smartpoint on page 12 for instructions.
Please note that this status screen does NOT display if .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later is already
installed on your computer.
4. Optional. Click Show details in the status bar to see the list of files as they are installed.
After the installation files are extracted, the Setup screen displays the pre-installation tasks. See
Pre-Installation Tasks on page 5 for more information about the pre-installation tasks listed on this
screen, as well as additional tasks that may be required.
5. Click Yes to confirm the pre-installation requirements and display the Welcome window.
6. Click Next.
If Travelport Smartpoint or Galileo Desktop is open, a warning message is displayed.
21. Highlight desired languages for installation. You can select multiple languages by pressing
the CTRL key and selecting additional languages from the list.
24. If applicable, click Internet to add web browser settings for Galileo Desktop. This button is
ignored for Smartpoint installations.
Your Travelport Smartpoint Administrator or your agency’s technical support should provide
instructions if you need to add internet settings for Galileo Desktop.
25. Set the desired locations for the Galileo Desktop files:
▪ To use the default directory settings for all files, make no changes.
▪ To change the location for a specific file, select the file and click Edit to enter or browse
to the desired location.
26. After all changes are made to the directory and internet settings, click Next. The Host/Galileo
Desktop TCP/IP Configuration screen is displayed.
27. If there is more than one connection, confirm or select the default connection.
Tip! See the Technical Installation Guide for Travelport Smartpoint 8.2 if you need to edit or
add a new connection. Always confirm your agency’s connection type and settings with
your Travelport Smartpoint Administrator or your agency’s technical support.
Tip! Confirm your agency’s features with your Travelport Smartpoint Administrator or your agency’s
technical support.
29. Clear the check box for any feature your agency does not want to install.
30. Click Next.
31. Clear the check box for any feature your agency does not want to install.
32. Click Next.
33. Clear the check box for any features your agency does not want to install.
34. Click Next to begin the installation.
Tip! Confirm your agency’s features with your Travelport Smartpoint Administrator or your agency’s
technical support.
22. Clear the check box for any feature your agency does not want to install.

24. Clear the check box for any feature your agency does not want to install.
25. Click Next.
26. Clear the check box for any feature your agency does not want to install.
27. Click Next to begin installing the selected features.
28. If applicable, clear check boxes for any Relay applications that you do not want to load into Quick
Commands.
After the files are installed, the Setup Type screen is displayed.
29. Select the desired type of database access. You can confirm type of database with your
agency’s Smartpoint Administrator or technical support.
30. Click Next.
31. Confirm the follow-up tasks for required for your agency. For more information about these
tasks, your Smartpoint Administrator or technical support can refer to the Technical
Installation Guide for Travelport Smartpoint 8.2.
32. Click Finish.
Installation Components
The following files software is included in the installation, if relevant.
Galileo SSL Client 3.0.1.47
If an earlier version of Galileo SSL Client is detected in your system, Galileo SSL Client 3.0.1.47 is
automatically installed. Galileo SSL Client 3.0.1.47 supports Secured Socket Layer (SSL) 3.0 and
Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2, which are required for PCI DSS Compliance.
Galileo SSL Client 3.0 is NOT automatically installed if:
▪ The system is already running the current 3.0.1.47 version of Galileo SSL Client.
Galileo SSL Client 3.0.1.47 is also available as a separate installation on Travelport Marketplace
at https://www.travelportmarketplace.com/Product/-Galileo-SSL-301.
▪ No versions of Galileo SSL Client are detected on your system.
Agencies that use a customer-managed VPN for connectivity do not require Galileo SSL Client.
Hotel Retail v11
The Hotel Retail plug-in is included in all installations, but Hotel Retail icon only displays in Smartpoint
if Hotel Retail is activated by your agency in the Travelport Marketplace settings.
If there is a problem with the Hotel Retail installation of the plug-in an error is displayed. You can click OK
to confirm the error and complete the Travelport Smartpoint installation without installing the plug-in.
After the entire installation is complete, you can continue to use the main Travelport Smartpoint product
while you install or troubleshoot the plug-in separately. Hotel Retail is also available as a separate
installation at https://www.travelportmarketplace.com/Product/Hotel-Retail-(ApolloGalileo).
Important! If an earlier version of Hotel Retail is installed on your computer, do NOT uninstall this version
before or after installing the bundled installation, which automatically updates earlier versions of Hotel
Retail. If you uninstall an earlier version of Hotel Retail separately, the Hotel Retail interface may be
deleted from your computer completely.
