A) Smart Diagnostic System Overview

Smart Diagnostic System is a diagnostic guideline integrated on

FODP 2 Lite. It is developed for new generation of Ford Cargo
trucks. The aim is to perform enhanced diagnosis according to
current or stored DTCs on vehicle modules. Smart diagnostic
system guides service technician to solve the issue according to
directions that comes step by step.

Smart diagnostic system is reachable at «Engine Doctor» menu

on chosen vehicle module.

B) Start Smart Diagnostic System
In order to use Smart Diagnostic System, FODP 2 Lite should be
kept as open and never closed.

The system communicates with modules via Samtec tester. For

H566 vehicle variants, Samtec k-line output should be connected
with desired module’s output. For H476 vehicle variants, use T-
cable to communicate with desired module.

Step 1: Establish a connection between FODP 2 Lite and module.
For H566 vehicle variants, use right K-line port; for h476 vehicle
variants, use T-cable and right K-line port.

Step 2: Choose first «Engine Doctor» on left menu, then press
start «Smart Diagnostic System» button.

C) View Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Smart diagnostic system is capable of capturing DTCs
automatically. Once it find a DTC, it shows automatically DTC
found screen. Operator should follow steps by selecting options.

It is not possible to view all DTCs as a list.

E) Close Smart Diagnostic System
In order to stop smart diagnostic system, «stop diagnostic»
button should be chosen from DTC found menu. Any other
alternative methods or short cuts should not be used, otherwise
it may result in catastrophic failures.
