Course Objective:
a) Gain the essential knowledge and concepts of water resources engineering (supply and
demands), aspects of the hydrologic cycle, and principles of meteorology (temperature,
humidity, and wind).
b) Estimate the precipitation, infiltration, evaporation and transpiration, rainfall and run-off.
c) Assess the Drainage basins and Hydrographs, Ground water and Hydraulics of wells – steady
state condition and Computer (GIS) applications in hydrology.
Course Outline:
Introduction to the principles of water resources engineering, water budget and balance; principles
of meteorology (temperature, humidity, wind, precipitation); the hydrologic cycle phases and
mathematical calculations in each phase; the estimations of infiltration, evaporation and
transpiration; the relation between rainfall and run-off hydrographs; the catchment areas and
stream-flow of drainage basins; principles of ground water science, and hydraulics of wells.

Students Outcomes:
SO-01: An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying
principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
SO-02: An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with
consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental,
and economic factors.
SO-04: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations
and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global,
economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
SO-05: An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership,
create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
CLO 1. Recognize the concepts and theories of mathematics and sciences along with their
