KET WRITING FORMAT

1. LETTER/EMAIL
 Length: 25-35 words
 Task requirement: You may be asked to read and respond appropriately to a short note from a
friend. You are asked to convey three pieces of information.
 Purpose:
In this Part, you are required to show they can communicate a written message of an authentic
type, for example, a note or postcard to a friend.
 Language:
You should use an informal style.
 Structure:
You need an opening and closing formula; an introductory and closing paragraph; and a body
consisting of as many paragraphs as ideas you are asked to discuss.
 Common topics:
Some common topics to write emails/letters about are visiting your hometown, keeping fit,
advice on which cities to visit in your country, organising a party for a mutual friend, etc.
 Outline:
