Getting Started With ManageByStats 
 

A Quick Hello 

Hello, and welcome. You’re here, you signed up for ManageByStats (also called MBS), 
you’ve connected your Amazon account and you’re ready to go. 

We hope you’re as excited as we are. 

This Quick Start guide will get you going in two easy steps: 

1. First, we’ll show you the things you’ll want to set up now. 
2. Next we’ll do a quick Q & A (Question & Answer) to direct you to the tools you’ll most 
want to use. 

Don’t worry about the page count of this guide. You won’t be reading it all right now. 

The Quick Start is here for you when you need it, but our primary focus is getting you going 
quickly with MBS in order to start helping you with your Amazon business n
​ ow​. 

 
 
 

If you’re here you’ve no doubt read a bit about ManageByStats and have an idea what you 
want it to do for you. MBS has many tools, and many uses, but you could group its purpose 
into a few basic categories. 

MBS helps with: 

● Sales.​ Know your profit and ROI, revenue, sales and other key stats. 
● Customers.​ Analytics, purchase history and more. 
● Inventory.​ Set alerts and monitor inventory levels. 

MBS also has tools for: 

● Finding products. 
● Tracking keywords. 
● Managing your Amazon Sponsored Ads. 
● Working with reviews and feedback. 
● Sending emails to your customers. 

And more. 

The next two sections, ​Quick First Steps​ and ​A Quick Q & A​, will get you up and running.

The Knowledge Base has training videos as well as info on each tool and feature. 

Additionally, each section of the Knowledge Base leads with a QUICK TIPS page. Use 
this for quick insight into, and helpful suggestions for, How-To needs that tend to 
come up for the related section.

​ ashboard​. Here you can create what are called Dashlets, which are 
little blocks of real-time info on things like Sales, Profit, ROI, Units Ordered, 
Promotions and Refunds. MBS lets you add and customizes Dashlets, as well as add 
additional Dashboards, in order to create the perfect at-a-glance views for your 
needs. See everything from sales info, restock alerts, graphs, KPIs (Key Performance 
Indicators) and more. 

Hover over an open section of the Dashboard and click the “+” sign to add a Dashlet. 

When on the Dashboard, hover over the Help icon and click Knowledge Base (KB) for 
more info on setting things up.

Note:​ Please be aware that Dashboard, Statistics and Graphs look at different 
Amazon data and will not necessarily be a perfect match. Statistics reports CLOSED 
business, while dashlets and graphs show closed AND pending business. Pending 
business does not always become closed business. 

We recommend using Graphs and Dashlets for a snapshot overview of your 


account, but basing business decisions on closed statements (By Statement) in 
Statistics. Closed Statements is the only data from Amazon this is not in flux. 

❏ Most users of MBS want to send auto-response emails to their customers, after 
purchase, delivery, etc. The MBS tool for that is called ​SellerMail​, and it’s free up to 
1,000 emails per month (with low-cost, tiered pricing above that). Activate the free 
version of SellerMail and set up some basic rules to get started. 

You can also Subscribe, if you’re ready to activate your SellerMail at a higher volume. 
You can upgrade your plan at any time. 

Once activated, in SellerMail see the KB for info on setting up your email rules. 

❏ Install the Advertising API. We’re an official Amazon developer and a member of the 
Amazon Developer Council. Any 3rd party developer (like us), uses what’s called an 
API (Application Programming Interface), which is a means for authorized 
developers to connect and provide services. 

Connecting the Advertising API is a quick action, and will allow us to get your 
Marketing Performance and Ads data. It will also give you the option to use the 
Advertising tool, if you choose.

While logged into your ManageByStats go to the following menu item: 

Graphs 

You’ll see an instruction box at the top of the screen. Follow the steps and use the 
REGISTER button to connect your Ads API. Takes just a few seconds. 

Note:​ Some graphs will not display data without this access. 

❏ Install the Plugin. MBS has a Chrome Plugin. It’s Chrome Only, so you’ll need to be 
in a Chrome browser to use it. The Plugin lets you gather Review and Feedback info, 
as well as update graphs and other data on demand. 

It takes only a second to install, and once installed will run quietly in your browser 
and be ready for use when you select certain options in your ManageByStats. 

You can find a link to install the Plugin in your ManageByStats under ​Graphs​. 

❏ Glance through the MBS menu to familiarize yourself with what’s there. 

❖ Statistics​ lets you look at all facets of sales performance by brand, product 
groupings, individual products, ASIN and SKU, with options for statement 
periods and custom date ranges. 
❖ Graphs​ gives you graphical representations of major stats for products and 
groups of products, including marketing performance and raw data. 
❖ Customers​ is where you can find info on every customer, see their order 
history, find your most valuable buyers, see geographic sales info, generate 
custom lists, do analytics and more. 
❖ Transactions​ shows you all transactions, customer feedback and 
promotions, lets you generate reports and more. 
❖ Advertising​ is where you can easily manage your Amazon Sponsored Ads, 
with additional features beyond what Amazon offers. 
❖ Products​ contains info on BuyBox and conversion rates, inventory and 
reviews. 
❖ Finder​ is a product research tool that lets you search and filter products that 
are Best Sellers on Amazon.

❖ Keywords​ lets you enter keywords to track and monitor for ranking. 
❖ SellerMail​ is the automated email tool, where you can create and set custom 
email sequences that will send emails in response to events like product 
purchase, delivery, etc. 
❖ SellerBlast​ is an email campaign tool, unique to MBS. It lets you create 
email campaigns and send them to custom lists of your customers. 
❖ Settings​ is where you configure the MBS program, add users, add additional 
marketplaces and/or seller accounts, set up your Costs, find your Affiliate link 
and more. 

A Quick Q & A 

MBS is a multi-purpose tool. Not everyone uses all the features. 

Because MBS has so many tools, it can be overwhelming at first glance. Depending on why 
you grabbed this trial, you may or may not have an idea where to start. 

Never fear. You’ve done the First Steps, and are now set up with the basics. The following 
questions will help guide you to the tools you’ll most want to use. 

By taking a quick moment to review these questions, you’ll know where to look and can

SECTIONS 

Seeing your Stats & Profit 


ManageByStats will calculate things like Profit, ROI and Margin if you enter your Costs. 

Enter your Costs and Inbound Shipping rates under ​Settings > SKUs​ in your MBS: 

There you’ll see your SKUs. Click to edit any SKU and you’ll see the ​Product Costs​ section 
at the bottom of the edit window:

Use the Help button while in SKUs to get to the Knowledge Base, which has complete info 
and instructions on adding Costs and Inbound Shipping, and specifying Currency. 

With Costs added, the system is able to estimate Profit on your Sales Dashlets:

You can do a deeper analysis of sales stats on the S


​ tatistics​ page. There you can view 
product sales statistics using multiple criteria:

Note:​ Remember that Dashboard, Statistics and Graphs look at different Amazon data and

Inventory and Restock Alerts 


Monitor your Inventory under P
​ roducts > Inventory Management​: 

You’ll see a list of your products, along with the ability to save views, select or de-select 
multiple columns of information, set lead time for alerts and more. Refresh inventory 
views here, and export to a CSV file if desired. 

Tech Tip:​ Amazon doesn’t keep histories on your inventory. If you want to have a running 
record of inventory levels that can be referred to later, export a CSV file each month and 
save it for you records.

Knowing your Customer Info 


One area where MBS excels above all others is in the presentation of Customer info. 

With full customer info, order history, geographic information and other data, we give you 
the ability to not only quickly and easily find your customers, but to do numerous forms of 
analytics, from repeat buyers and number of purchases, lifetime value, geographic analysis 
and more, as well as giving you a way to generate custom lists for your use, based on 
products purchased, amount spent, purchase dates and other criteria. 

It all begins in the ​Customers​ menu in your MBS: 

Under the Generate Report section create reports of your customers using a multitude of 
criteria, and output the reports to multiple formats:

Sending Automated Emails to your Customers 


Following up with your customers after purchase, checking their satisfaction, getting 
reviews and feedback -- these are important aspects of the seller/customer relationship 
cycle. 

SellerMail​ is the ManageByStats tool that helps you with that relationship.

SellerMail is an automated email system that lets you create emails that will be sent to your 
customers automatically at time of purchase, delivery, and other trigger events. 

Here’s what you see under the main ​SellerMail​ menu: 

This is one of the most-used tools in MBS, and it bears a quick overview here. You can get 
full coverage and videos by clicking Help and the Knowledge Base from any SellerMail page, 
but we’ll cover each of the S
​ ellerMail​ menu items here for a quick clarification. 

❖ HUB:​ The Hub page is a snapshot overview of some of the key metrics in your 
SellerMail. 
❖ EMAIL RULES:​ Rules are where you set the rules for your individual emails and 
structure your email sequences. Rules include everything about each email, such as 
what will trigger it to send (purchase, delivery, etc.), how long it will wait to send 
after the trigger, which products it will send for, whether it should only send it the 
buyer is a repeat buyer and many more criteria that can be set. Email Rules is the 
core of your SellerMail setup.

❖ PROFILES:​ Who’s the sender? Profiles is where you set your sender profile, or 
multiple profiles if you need more than one. Profiles are then assigned to Email 
Rules when creating the rule. (Refer to the instructions when creating your first 
Profile. The email used must be defined in Amazon as well.) 
❖ TEMPLATES:​ Templates are helpful if you’re creating multiple Email Rules that will 
use a similar message body and other settings. Templates are not required. 
❖ SCHEDULED:​ Here is where you can see all emails that are scheduled to be sent. If 
you specify a delay in an Email Rule, when the email is triggered it will be queued to 
be sent at the specified time. 
❖ SENT:​ This is a list of the emails that have been sent 
❖ STATISTICS:​ Here you can see statistics such as Sent rates and Open rates. 
❖ UNSUBSCRIBED:​ View and add/remove unsubscribes. Upload a file, if you have it, 
or add requested unsubscribes one at a time. 
❖ PAYMENTS:​ If you have any overage payments (send rates that go beyond your 
monthly plan), they show here.

Doing Email Campaigns to your Customers 


MBS has a unique tool that lets you create and send email campaigns to lists of your 
customers. It’s called S
​ ellerBlast​. 

With SellerBlast you can create email campaigns to your customers, filtered by date of 
purchase, product(s) purchased, repeat buyer status, whether refunded or not and many 
other criteria. 

The emails are sent to the customer's Amazon cloaked email address. 

SellerBlast is free for Amazon cloaked emails, and uses the SellerMail engine to send. SellerMail 
must be activated in order to use SellerBlast. (The free version of SellerMail is enough to run 
SellerBlast.)

Managing Amazon Sponsored Ads and PPC 


The Advertising Manager in ManageByStats gives you much faster and better insight into 
the performance of your Amazon sponsored Products Ads, allowing you to focus on what 
matters most. See both current and historical data that makes decisions much easier to 
make. The Advertising Manager tracks changes, so you’re not left wondering if you’ve 
already made a change recently. 

Plus you can do additional things like set target ACoS, auto bid adjustments, schedule bid 
adjustments, see bid history and more. 

Advertising​ is a single-cost monthly service, and there’s a free 14 day free trial so you can 
check it out. During the trial you’ll have access to all features and can see if the Ads 
Manager will be right for you. 

The layout of the Ads Manager mirrors Seller Central, with sections for Campaigns, Ad 
Groups, Ads and Keywords:

Set Target ACoS: 

Schedule, Pause and Boost ads and let the system regulate your bids for you. Click the

When on any page in Advertising click the Help icon and the Knowledge Base for How-To, 
videos and more. 

Reviews & Feedback 


You get Reviews and Feedback using a Download option. To get Feedback you’ll need: 

● To have the MBS Plugin installed 


● Be logged into your Seller Central 

For Reviews you don’t need to be logged into your Seller Central. 

With those conditions true, you’ll see the Download option with a field to specify a date:

Set the date you want to pull from, click the Download Data button, and the system 
updates your Reviews and Feedback.

Keywords 
Keywords​ is free up to a certain limit, with tiered pricing after that. Monitor your keywords 
and those of competitors. Track trends, changes in rank, BSR, make notes to mark the date 
of relevant events and more.

Finding Products 
Finder​ is a product research tool that lets you search and filter products that are Best 
Sellers on Amazon. 

It’s free with your ManageByStats. 

The list is updated daily and contains data on more than 300,000 bestselling products on 
Amazon. You can view products in single or multiple major categories, from Appliances to 
Toys & Games and everything in between. 

Restrict and sort results by BSR, Reviews, Rating, Price and other variables. 

Select and adjust columns and refine your results to see the best products to sell. 

Settings and Adding Users and Accounts 


The ​Settings​ menu item is where you’ll find a variety of functions and tools:

What we want to cover here are adding Users and adding Seller Accounts. 

As you grow and need to give access to your ManageByStats to others, you can do so under 
Settings > Users​. There you can send invitations to those you want to grant access. 

Select a basic role for the user to start. After sending the invitation you’ll be able to edit 
them and fine-tune the exact permissions and access you want them to have. 

You can also add and manage multiple marketplaces and/or seller central accounts. 
Depending on your MBS plan you get 2 or more accounts to start. Additional accounts or 
marketplaces are $10/mo. 

Note:​ Each market counts as an account. For example, the EU has five markets (UK, DE, FR, 
IT, ES), so if you want to add the entire EU you would need to add all 5 accounts. 

To add a new account, under ​Settings > Seller Accounts​, click the “Register New” button:

Follow the steps to add the new account. 

When you have more than one account you’ll be able to select and switch between them in 
order to manage multiple accounts from a single MBS login. 

Become an Affiliate 
We’ve got a great Affiliate program. One of the best. We pay you 25% of what your 
referrals pay for the main service. Ongoing. Not a one-time thing, but each time they pay, 
whether for an annual subscription or each month, we give you 25%. 

By signing up for MBS you get an Affiliate link automatically. You can find it in ​Settings​, 
under Affiliate: 

All you need to do is enter the PayPal account where you’d like to receive commissions, 
then give out your custom link to prospects, friends -- anyone you think would benefit from 
ManageByStats. Anyone who uses it to sign up for MBS becomes your affiliate.

Installing MBS Mobile 


If you’d like to be able to see your Dashboards and Dashlets easily on the go, we offer an 
MBS Mobile App. You can get it here on your Android mobile device: 

Get The MBS Mobile App 

You can also search for ​ManageByStats​ in your App store. It’s free, and once installed will 
allow you to connect to your MBS account. 

When you first launch it you’ll see a “Login to MBS” screen: 

Put in the email and password for your ManageByStats account. Click the “CONNECT TO 
MBS” button and … you’re in. You’ll see your Dashboard, and a dropdown at the top of the 
screen. Use the dropdown to select which Dashboard to view. 

The app will stay logged in if you don’t log out. When you launch the app it will then open 
to the last view.
