The winch is approved for the Safe working Load (SWL) given in Table I and with a class of
loading described below:

Application/Limitation
1. Materials with 3.1 certificates are to be used when manufacturing load carrying parts.
Traceability is assumed taken care of by the manufacturer's quality system.
2. The various components transferring the load like wire clamps, wires, shackles etc.
are to comply with an international standard or code and are to be delivered with

manufacturer's certificates.
4. Connection and support of the complete winch to the supporting structure is not
included in this approval and are assumed covered by separate drawings.
6. We assume that the wire rope is to be spooled on the drum in a satisfying way. The
operator should have full over-view of the spooling/drum from the manoeuvring
position(s). Minimum 3 turns of wire rope is always to remain on the drum.
7. The hydraulic system and components are to comply with pertinent parts of DNV`s
"Rules for Classification of Ships", Part 4, Chapter 6 or other recognised standard/code.
Hydraulic components are to be delivered with manufacturer's pressure test certificates.
8. The hydraulic system for the winch is to be designed in such way that manual
operation of the winch is possible in case of power failure. This requirement is to be
fulfilled when the winch is a part of a life saving system.
9. Minimum recovery speed for rescue boats is 0, 3 m/s and 0, 8 m/s for fast rescue
boats.
· For delivery according to Lifting Appliances, winch unit is to be function and load
tested according to Section 6 of the Rules before a DNV product certificate can be
issued.
· Prototype test carried out at manufacturer's premises September 8th 1999 according to
IMO Resolution 81 (70) witnessed by DNV Bologna
Marking of product
The product to be marked with manufacturer's name/trademark and type number identification.
For retention of the Type Approval, DNV`s representative shall carry out biennial Product
Audits if regular certification no longer takes place.

Norske Veritas shall pay compensation to such person for his proved direct loss or damage. However, the compensation shall not exceed an
