joint service on
November 10th!
First, we will bring in thirteen new members to our congregation. Other than our large
confirmation classes, this is the single largest class of new members we will have
received since I became your pastor in mid-2014. I have been meeting with them and
Sunday, will have one more meeting between now and November 10. I can tell you that they
are excited to become members of our church, and are looking forward to using their

Second, the next group of Financial Peace University

that day at 10:00 recognize their accomplishments and lift up the life changes they have made and will
make as a result of this wonderful program which has helped so many to develop a

personal Third, we will celebrate the completion of our Haiti Meal Pack which will have
calendar, and completed the day before Celebration Sunday. The Haiti Meal Pack is
organized by our Mission Team and will attempt to pack 50,000 meals
we’ll keep over two days, November 8 and 9. I was excited this morning
(Wednesday) to be at Faith UMC in Stroudsburg and to see the
reminding you in number of people they already have signed up to come and help
with the Meal Pack, and I know of several civic organizations
the Sundays coming to help. Our celebration of the completion of these meals is
leading up to not so much a “pat on the back” as a way to say thanks to God for
giving us the resources and the ability to do this for some of the

become involved in some way in this amazing project!

Hi Friends,
I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU for your
continued support of the Youth Ministry Program. You may
remember that a few weeks ago, on Sunday September 29th,
the youth held a breakfast fundraiser after both worship
services. It is my joy to report, that on that day, the youth
were able to raise over $700!! This is yet another testimony to the ever-present support YOU
offer to the youth in this church!
Perhaps the best way I can thank you, is to provide a picture of what you are supporting,
when you donate to the youth ministry program. On the weekend of October 4th – 6th, twelve youth and four adult
leaders participated in a mission weekend with an organization called The Philadelphia Project. As you may remember,
our youth group has partnered with The Philadelphia Project on many occasions, dating all the way back to 2011. TPP
provides our youth the opportunity to serve the people of Philadelphia during the day and grow closer to God through
worship and study of scripture in the evening.
On this weekend trip, our group was able to split into three work crews, in order to accomplish three very different
mission projects. Our first work crew, led by Randy Johns, tackled much needed home repair projects for a senior
citizen. Our second work crew, led by Dawn Johns and Robin Braun, provided cleaning services to a local non-profit
organization that helps people get back on their feet (similar to our Monroe Country organizations Street 2 Feet and
Family Promise). Our third work crew, led by me, handed out lunches to homeless folks in center city, as a way to
engage in conversations and pray with people.
Over the course of the weekend, our youth were definitely stretched out of their comfort zones! During the discussion
portion of the evening session, the youth expressed a variety of feelings and emotions. Some felt challenged, others felt
encouraged, and several shared that they were feeling heartbroken after seeing the living conditions of the people they
encountered.
One final item I want to share with you, centers upon the character and the heart of our youth. Several of the youth in
my group, utilized their phones to write down the names of every single homeless person they prayed with, so that
when the mission weekend was over, they could continue to pray for each person by name. How awesome is that?
Friends, these youth are the future of the church. When we invest in them, we are investing in the future of the church
and the work of the Kingdom of God. Again, I say to you--THANK YOU for investing your prayers, your time, and your
finances in the youth of this church. As you can see, we truly are a Christian community where Christ is transforming
lives.
