Lesson Plan

A. Standards: The teacher works with others to create environments that supports

individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction,

active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. The teacher understands and uses

multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor

learner progress, and to guide the teacher's and learner's decision making.

1. Objectives: The students will describe and list the differences between bullying and

cyberbullying. The students will analyze the issue and laws for cyberbullying.

B. Materials/ Equipment:

o PowerPoint

o Textbook: Becoming A Teacher by Forrest W. Parkway

o Whiteboard and markers

o Web/ Internet

C. Procedures:

1. Introduction by presenting the topic to the students.

2. Defining/ asking what is Cyberbullying.

3. Teacher will create a T-Chart on the whiteboard, and the teacher will kindly ask students

to list the differences between bullying and cyber bullying. Then discuss them with the

class.
4. Discussion about the general problems that a person being cyberbullied can face. After,

will also talk about the actual problems, such as, mentally, physically, and emotionally

that could be experienced.

5. Defining the First Amendment or a refresher of what it is.

6. This would sort of connect with #5 by talking about how the first amendment law is

important to teachers, students, or even to the school. Teacher would ask students to open

up their textbook, and locate a paragraph to read, then will discuss in the class.

7. Discussion about a cyberbullying case that is given by the textbook. The case is named

the "JC V. Beverly Hills Unified School District (2009)."

8. Go to the link that's attached to the slide of this section of the PowerPoint. The link will

take us to the website that I found talking more in depth with the JC V. Beverly Hills

Unified School District case.

9. Discussing and giving ideas on what schools or school districts can do to prevent

cyberbullying from happening. Will also discuss what can parent and students can do

about cyberbullying.

10. After everything, closure.

D. Closure: The closure of this presentation will consist of sharing ideas, thoughts, and

comments about the cyberbullying case. I would also be open for any questions that

anyone could have.

E. Assessment:

2. What are the differences of bullying and cyberbullying?

3. Any other general problems/ issues that could be added when someone is facing a

cyberbullying experience?

4. What law(s) falls into this issue? - This is also a topic question and transitions to the first

amendment, what is it?
