Background of the Study

This part of the research will talk about why the

researcher has chosen the topic and what made the researcher
choose the topic. It is best to explain the issue at hand
through observations and credible data.
The next paragraph may talk about the concepts or
definitions that are operationalized to better explain the
relationship of the concept and the issue. References to
explain the concepts must be cited here.
The third paragraph may talk about the variables that will
be used in the research such as academic performance, gender,
ethnic groups, and target population.
The last paragraph may talk about the objectives of the
study as well as its significance.

Statement of the Problems and Hypotheses

This study aims to provide a framework for the study
through the general and specific problems and hypotheses. It
specifically seeks to answer the following questions:

1. This is a general question that usually starts with “What”

Hypothesis: This is a tentative answer to the question.

2. This is where specific questions may be asked. Specific

questions may reach to three questions. For scientific
researches, the question should start with “Is there a
significant difference…” For descriptive correlative
researches, the question should start with “Is there a
significant relationship…”
Hypothesis: For scientific and descriptive correlative, the
hypothesis must always be in null form, such as “There is no
significant…”

Scope and Delimitation

This part should tell about the scope of the research at
the same time the limitation of the use of the variables.

Methodology

Research Design
This part will explain the research method (descriptive,
experimental, or historical) used and the type of research
(e.g. case study, posttest, etc.)

Population and Locale of the Study

This part will explain who the respondents are or what the
subjects are, including where the research or experiment will
take place.

Data Gathering Instrument

This part will show the tool that will be used in the
study which maybe the interview guide, observation log,
questionnaire, etc. Where the tool is obtained must also be
placed here with proper citation.

Data Gathering Procedure

This part will explain in detail how the research or
experiment will be conducted.

Treatment of Data
All statistical tools must be placed here with an
explanation why. For qualitative researches, how the results
will be treated must be explained.
