What’s New in OFM
OFM 2018.1 expands the functionality of the Analysis Dashboard introduced in OFM 2016.1. The new
analysis modules include report, mapping and decline curve analysis (DCA) which empower you to
extend and standardize the workflows in a dashboard context.
New and exciting features greatly extend and enhance the reservoir and production analysis in the
following key verticals:

• Analysis: OFM 2018.1 introduces new analysis modules - An entire mapping suite as layers on a
GIS or non-GIS background; An exception-based reporting module with conditional highlighting
and cross filtering; A new DCA module that comprises methods for unconventional resources,
along with numerous enhancements. This allows creation of “standard template dashboard”
across your organization.
• Usability/Interactivity: All methods in the dashboard dynamically interact with each other and
with the project entities, such as completions, wellbores, etc. Hence, faster turnaround and
synchronization between components.
• Performance: OFM 2018.1 has a cache mechanism built in to improve analysis performance in
a session enabling increased work efficiency and reliability.
• Workflow Extensibility: OFM API provides tools to extend workflows that you can leverage to
make OFM your organization's central data analysis product.
• Customizability: You can customize the Analysis Dashboard to fit operational needs and
workflows. Multi-dimensional analysis methods, along with enhanced usability, provide fit-for-
purpose workflows and support standardization.

New Mapping
The Analysis Dashboard introduced in OFM 2016.1 is further extended to introduce a new mapping
module on a GIS or Non-GIS (if well lat-long are not available) background layer.
One or more mapping layers can be added on top of the background layer to analyze production and
reservoir data. Each layer interacts with the navigation pane along with any analysis added to the
dashboard (Line, Scatter, Bar, Report, Decline Curve Analysis).

New Reporting

A report can bring additional value in a company’s standard production surveillance analysis dashboard.
A new reporting module is added to the analysis dashboard as well. You can retrieve information in a
tabular format in a variety of display options. Any report can be customized to display “Conditional
highlighting” based on any criteria or filter information based on “Cross Field Record filters”
functionalities. This enables quick access to information in production and reservoir surveillance.

Decline Curve Analysis (Unconventional Resources DCA
Techniques)
The Analysis Dashboard is augmented with an entire new DCA module that enables users to forecast
production using widely used industry standard techniques for unconventional resources; Arps,
Duong, Power Law and Stretched Exponential methods. This module will subsequently contain
most of the classic DCA module functionalities in OFM.

All DCA methods are easily accessible in the toolbar along with additional options. Once you click on a
method, the forecast curve is displayed and you can modify forecast parameters in the legend itself and
display the changes in the forecast curve.

All properties of the charting are supported in the decline curve plot as well; curve, axes properties etc. via the
property inspector. You can also view “Chart Annotations” as supported in the charting module on the DCA
plot.

Charting/Scatter/Dashboard Enhancements

Numerous major enhancements are added in OFM 2018.1 as mentioned below:

▪ [Line Chart/DCA] Fill Area under the Curve: Fill area can be displayed under the curve.
▪ [Line Chart] Stacked, %, Sum, Average Chart Types are now supported.
▪ [Line Chart] Display value label
▪ [Line Chart] Chart Area Color Customization
▪ [Line Chart / DCA] Annotation comments are now visible on the chart with a vertical line for easy
reading
▪ [Line Chart/ Map] Min-Max Size and Color Control for Charts and Maps in the legend
▪ [Line Chart/Map] Pick chart/map element from Inspector: If a chart has multiple curves, you can
now pick any curve from the inspector instead of clicking on the curve on the plot.
▪ [Scatter Plot] Display Entity Label
▪ [Scatter Plot] Enable Trace line for single or multiple points in a scatter plot
▪ [Annotations] Annotations can be directly written to the Shared workspace from My workspace.
▪ [Dashboard] Multiple Charts in the same analysis dashboard can be Synced (Same X axis date
range, all charts can zoom in at the same time)
▪ [Dashboard] Presentation Mode is introduced to expand real estate in an analysis dashboard
▪ [Dashboard] Legend for any analysis in the dashboard is movable and resizable

Add Custom Variable in Dashboard analysis

In addition to input variables and calculated variables, you now can add custom or ad-hoc variables for
production analysis. Custom variable names are prefixed with "_Eq:" and followed with equation
expression so that they are shown at the top of the selector list.
Custom variables can be used in the Dashboard as along as the project is open. When you close and
reopen the project, the custom variables are no longer available.

Performance Enhancements-Dashboard Cache Manager

The new Dashboard analyses are optimized for data loading when opening and
modifying. Considerable enhancement in the analysis performance was implemented by introducing the
Dashboard Cache Manager.
The following is an example:
You are working on a Line Chart with 22 curves on the chart. You add a new curve. OFM will only load
the new curve and the 22 curves will not be reloaded. Without the caching, the line chart is redrawn
and the existing 22 curves are reloaded. A similar approach is applied to mapping, reporting and
scatter plots as well.
Note: It is only applied to the current Dashboard Analysis. The cache is cleared when you reopen the
project.

Licensing
Schlumberger Licensing
Schlumberger Licensing version 2017.1 is included with OFM 2018.1 release. If you use OFM 2018.1,
you must upgrade your Schlumberger license servers prior to the software installation.
FlexNet ID Dongle will not work with Schlumberger Licensing 2017.1.
Refer to the Schlumberger Licensing User Guide that is included in the Schlumberger Licensing
installation for more information.

CodeMeter Dongle support

Starting with the OFM 2018.1 release, WIBU USB dongle (CodeMeter) and hostid licenses are both
supported. If you have active licenses tied to FLEX ID dongle, it is recommended that you move to a
CodeMeter dongle as this is the one that is supported. Contact your Account Manager to request for a
dongle if you want to use dongle for licensing. For further details on CodeMeter dongle licensing, refer
to the Schlumberger Licensing User Guide.

Discontinuation of Node locked Licenses

Starting OFM 2018.1 release, it is no longer possible to request node-locked licenses. Node locked
licenses are licenses that can be used within one system/computer only.
A node locked license feature looks like this:
INCREMENT OFM32 slbfd 2018.04 30-apr-2018 uncounted ……….

License Daemon changes

Starting OFM 2018.1 release, newer licenses that are generated have the slbsls feature in the license
string rather than the slbfd. Licenses containing both slbsls and slbfd strings will continue to work with
OFM 2018.1 and earlier versions. For future versions, the plan is to switch to supporting slbsls license
daemon only and the switch will be communicated in advance. Users will be switched to slbsls licenses
when renewing them going forward.
A slbsls license feature looks like this:
INCREMENT OFM32 slbsls 2018.04 30-apr-2018 1 …….
