Gun violence serious problem

We usually think that we will not be
involved in a violent crime in our daily life;
however, we should know that violent cri-

The primaries: Headache of politics
By Lucas Barringer

The presidential primaries are becom-

ing increasingly contentious as the candi-
dates on both sides move through Ohio and
New Hampshire and into the bulk states
with a narrower field. It seems both par-
ties have picked their candidates going for-
ward, with Democrats Bernie Sanders and
Hillary Clinton, and Republicans Donald
Trump, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
The two clear standouts of this elec-
tion cycle, Sanders and Trump, have been
making headlines for months due to their
surprising successes in polls.
Neither candidate has historically had
a definite affiliation with their respective
parties, which may very well be exactly
what’s allowing them to do so well. As
well, both candidates have eschewed super
PACs as a means of funding their cam-
paigns, effectively freeing them of any ob-
ligations to wealthy donors.
Trump is well known at this point for
his exceedingly strange methods and strong
appeal with grassroots conservatives. Hav-

“In addition,” Nelson said, “detectives
