CHARACTERIZATION OF KARST KALISIRAH SUBTERRANEAN RIVER BUAYAN

ABSTRACT
Gombong Karst Landscapes Region is an area that has developed an subterranean river with abundant
water resources, one of which is Kalisirah Springs in Sikayu, Buayan District, Kebumen. Kalisirah spring
supports thousands of people around it, for domestic, fisheries and agricultural needs. Karst area is
sensitive to changes so it is necessary to understand the character of the underground river system
developed, so that groundwater resources can be maintained.

The method is speleology survey to reach and record subterranean conditions in Goa Pucung and
water tracer to obtain detailed information about the characteristics of karst aquifers.

Release of tracer is carried out in Goa Pucung and the fluorometer is placed in Kalisirah spring. Release
on September 23, 2018 at 21:57 and September 24, 2018 at 15:25 fluorometer records an increase in
fluorescent concentration. Connection of Goa Pucung-Kalisirah through 2 karst windows (Kalijeblosan
and Kaliwinong) that are visible in plain view. The releasing agent can be recovered 8.40% in Kalisirah
spring. Flow volume from the subterranean river system of Goa Pucung-Kalisirah reached
23,403,064.49 liters with an average residence time of 24.11 hours. The cross-sectional area of 12.19
m2 and the diameter of the Flow-Channel reach 3.9395 meters. While the hydraulic depth of the Flow-
Channel is 3.09 meters.

Debit recovery reached 4493% in Kalisirah spring, indicating a tracing dilution and divergence from
the underground river channel of Goa Pucung-Kalisirah, which means there is a large convergence or
water supply from other systems entering the system.
