GURU NANAK
This tract of the Guru Nanak Mission Series is
published in Commemoration of the Quin-Centenary of
the Great Guru Nanak, It contains selected pieces from
compositions of the Satguru himself incorporated in the
Holy Guru Granth Sahib and a few lines from the writings
of the great Sikh Scholar Bhai Gurdas, together with their
translations in Hindi and English.- The subject has been
split under nine different heads Viz:
(i) Times of the advent of Guru Nanak as visualised
by the Guru himself,
(ii) Guru Nanak’s Advent as described by Bhai
Gurdas and other contemporaries of the Guru,
(iii) Godhead as conceived by Guru Nanak.
(iv) How may one realize God-the Truth ?
(v) Where to seek Deliverance ?
{vi) How to be one with the Almighty ?
(vii) But pitiable is the state of man-the meritless.
(viii) Devotional love-the only remedy.
(ix) The Guru faces the Master-His ecstatic love.

DELIVERANCE By rendering service to humanity thou shalt get a seat (of respect) in the Master's Court and shalt swing thy arm happily. O’ Brother, speak ina way that may bring thee honour. Good are they who are styled good in the Master’s Court, Evil-doers sit and bewail. A stain of blood pollutes the garment ; then how can their minds be pure, who suck the blood of human beings, Nanak! utter you the name of God with wholesome heart, else all that you practise will be mere ostentation of your false actions, Nanak, Usurpation of others dues means pork for the one (Muslim) and beaf for the other (Hindu) The Guru and the Prophet will stand by only if man eats no carrion. By mere words of mouth man goes not to Heayen. Deliverance is only from the practice of truth. Talk such as brings respect, for that alone is accep- table. Hearken O’foolish ignorant mind, unpalatable words bring humiliation. Nanak! Sweetness of tongue and humility are the essence of all Virtues. O’ Bride ! What happiness is there without Virtuc ? God bestows bountifully His devotional service, on those pious persons whose hearts are saturated with His Love, Make love, therefore, the basis of thine Beloved’s service, and remove thy thirst for vicious propensities through the Shabad of the Guru. That love alone is accepted, which at the very outset makes the lover forget his self and does away with his ego. If thou art keen to play the game of Love, come on to my path with thy head on thy palm. If thou settest thy foot on this path, lay down thy head without hesitation. It is not the least despisable, if one courts such a death, for it is only the selfless service of the Omnipotent Master that makes thy onward journey comfortable, Thou shalt be honoured and rewarded if thou followest that cherished path. Thou shalt be one with Truth, if thou goest with an offering (of thy head) and honour will go to thy credit. Death is the privilege of the brave if they die for an approved cause and they alone will be denominated as heroes and wiil be held in bigh esteem in the Master’s Court, Those, who have concentrated on the Name and have departed after putting in hard labour, (on that account), shall go with bright faces and they will atone for many others.
