Why should you study parasitology?

Parasites affecting that is medically important to humans should be studied by everyone not only by the
medical students. Some may find factual information about parasites as complicated and tedious to
study but they may not know how big it is as part of our lives. These small organisms seem weak
because they tiny but it affects and attacks the smallest of our body and invades every part of our body.
You may not know it but you, your child, your parents or even your neighbors may carry parasites
unknowingly

So the other question is what is the benefit of studying parasitology?

- Having knowledge on parasites may give you a background on the possible diseases you may get
from wrong practice. For example, you, walking barefooted on soil or on grass just because you
feel it makes you happy however, the grass may seem clean but it harbors microorganisms that
may enter the soles of your feet. Ascaris lumbricoides lay fertilized eggs on soil and if you walk
barefooted on the soil, the eggs may enter through your skin. Maybe you can reason out that
you feel nothing when walking barefooted on soil. However, these parasites can enter your
body without showing symptoms. You will just know that you are infected once the larva have
already multiplied in your intestines that obstructs the digestive pathway.
