SUBJECT Drive Motors
Note: This bulletin is re-issued to correct the quantity of the parts required.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Drive motors A (part number 20/901900 superseded by 20/905200) fitted on 1CX/208S machines up to serial
number 751011, are no longer available from the supplier. Therefore, if it is necessary to replace a motor on these
machines, BOTH motors must be replaced with motor type B as fitted to later machines.
Note: Motors A were not handed (i.e. the same part number fitted both left and right hand positions) but motors B
are handed (see PARTS REQUIRED on page 4).
There will also be some additional hoses and adapters required to complete the conversion. Refer to SERVICE
PROCEDURE.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1 Park the machine on firm level ground and slacken the road wheel retaining bolts. Raise and support the ends of
the machine on blocks and remove the road wheels.
7 Fit a large adjustable spanner to the hub boss 8 and rotate the hub until the boss is horizontal, as illustrated. In
this position the drive chains are at their slackest and will allow the sprocket to be removed (see next step).
8 Withdraw and discard the sprocket 9 and oil seal 10, see Note 1.
Note 1: It may be necessary to slacken the drive chains to allow removal of the sprocket.
9 Remove and discard all the hydraulic hoses 11 (see page 1).
12 Drill out the existing motor mounting holes 13 to 12.0mm diameter and tap to M14.
13 Offer the new motor to the chassis and secure in place using four capscrews 14 and plain washers 15. Tighten
the capscrews to 220Nm.
15 Refit the chains onto the motor sprocket (see Note 1).
Note 2: The new motors have a 'twin bearing' arrangement in the motor end cover which fully supports the motor
shaft and drive. It is not necessary to refit the previously removed spider 6.
16 Refit the motor cover 3, using a new gasket 4. Tighten the retaining bolts 1 to 28Nm.
17 Fit the new hoses, adapters and fittings. Refer to pages 4 and 5 to identify the hoses, adapters and fittings and
their relevant positions.
19 Start and operate the machine, check for hydraulic leaks, ensure that the machine steers correctly, adjust as
required using the relevant section from the Service Manual 9803/8550.
