A good way to choose a restaurant is to read the
reviews. In the following activity, you will get to know some of the words that a reviewer might use to describe a restaurant.
Une bonne façon de choisir un restaurant est de
lire les critiques. Dans l’activité suivante, tu apprendras les termes que les critiques utilisent pour décrire un restaurant.

AMBIANCE (OR DÉCOR): The way the restaurant looks and
feels to the customer. This might include the décor (how it is decorated), the music and if there are a lot of people or not.
AMBIANCE (OU DÉCOR) : La façon dont le client perçoit
l’apparence et l’atmosphère du restaurant. Ceci peut inclure le décor (comment le restaurant est décoré), la musique et le nombre de gens (peu ou plusieurs).
AMENITIES: Things to make the experience pleasant. For
example, special menus, a wine list or private dining rooms.
AMÉNAGEMENTS : Des éléments visant à rendre l’expérience

BUFFET: Food is set up on a table or counter, and customers
get their own food. Many buffets are all-you-can-eat, which means that customers pay one price, and then can refill their plates as many times as they want.
BUFFET : La nourriture est mise sur une table ou un
comptoir, et les clients se servent eux-mêmes. Plusieurs buffets sont des endroits où l’on mange à volonté, ce qui veut dire que les clients payent un prix et qu’ils peuvent remplir leur assiette aussi souvent qu’ils le veulent.
CUISINE: Style of food. For example, “Thai cuisine” means
food from Thailand.
CUISINE : Style de mets. Par exemple, « cuisine
thaïlandaise » signifie des mets de Thaïlande.
ORGANIC: When food ingredients are organic, this means
that they are grown without chemicals.
ORGANIQUE : Lorsque les ingrédients sont organiques, cela

PATRON: Customer, client or paying guest at a restaurant.
CLIENT (D’UN RESTAURANT) : Client qui fréquente un
restaurant.
RESERVATION: A table that is kept for a customer or a
group at a specific time. If a restaurant accepts reservations, you can call them ahead and they will hold a table for you.
RÉSERVATION : Une table réservée pour une personne ou
un groupe à une heure précise. Si un restaurant accepte des réservations, tu peux l’appeler à l’avance et il gardera une table pour toi.

TAKE-OUT: Food is served in styrofoam or cardboard
containers to take home.
PLATS À EMPORTER : La nourriture est servie dans des
contenants en styromousse ou en carton pour que le client puisse les emporter chez lui.
VEGETARIAN: If a dish is vegetarian, this means that it does
not contain any meat.
VÉGÉTARIEN : Si un plat est végétarien, cela signifie qu’il ne
contient pas de produits de viandes.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE: The location can be used by a
person in a wheelchair.
ACCESSIBLE EN FAUTEUIL ROULANT : Les gens en fauteuil
roulant ont accès à l’emplacement.
