INTRODUCTION

Work immersions prepare students for the real world by training them how to work in a
company and eventually excel in a specific career. The school needs to endure that its student
gains various competencies that would have these future professionals ready for employment.
Work immersion is an industry that directly relates to the students post secondary goal. These
prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment or higher education after
graduation.

The benefits of immersion in preparing students for employment are; it can improve and
build new skills. Immersion will have students gain new skill sets and improve their existing
capabilities. It is also through immersion, the students get to discover themselves and jumpstart
their professional growth. Students become goal-driven. Immersion trains them how to achieve
these goals by giving them an opportunity to work with and be supervised by professionals and
highly creative people. This people can inspire students to discover their capabilities.

This report is to inform and to share the experiences of what we've noticed when
observations during the immersion at Dizon Medical and Health Center that was conducted
October 4,7,8 2019.

DESCRIPTION

I was assigned at the nursing station and in this station has four nurses. One of them Ma’am
mae that the one who guide us what are the doings of the nurses.

October 04, 2019 was the first day of my immersion at Dizon Hospital. Ma’am mae teach us
how to measure the blood pressure of the patient and immediately give a sample on how to
measure the blood pressure and we also measure the blood pressure of ma’am mae. The head
nurse of the station told us to come inside the nurse station and the head nurse immediately
told us what are the things that they are doing she showed us the patients charts and teach us
how to read the doctors writings the head nurse told us some terminologies used in the medical
world. And then ma’am mae brought us in her usual rounds in the patients giving medicine of
the patients it is not easy to handle because you will encounter different patients in a day but
the most difficult patient to handle is the baby’s because they will cry if they will feel pain.
Giving medicine to the patients has a color coding once a day, twice a day, or trice a day.

October 07, 2019 was my second day. It is the same as the first day but this day is a lot busier
than the other day s lot of people is admitted these day and some patients are told that the
hospital is loaded with patients and the rooms are not enough to entertain more patients.
Ma’am mae now is assigned in the monitoring and still we accompany her to her usual rounds
when we are doing the rounds ma’am mae told us how to conduct the monitoring when you are
monitoring you will get the temperature, blood pressure, and the RR or the respiratory rate
when you are assigned in monitoring in the dizon hospital you will the also one who will change
the dextrose of the patients. Ma’am mae told us many things in how to give medicine in the
patients and I observed that giving medicine to the patients is not that easy because if you will
give wrong medicine the patients will not be cure or worst thing to happen there will be a side
effect in the wrong medicine that you have given to the patients.

October 08, 2019 was the last day my immersion at Dizon Hospital. At my last day of my
immersion I encounter new person in the nurse station except for ma’am mae and she is also a
nurse and then he told some things on how to conduct a skin test in the patient she inject the
antibiotic at the skin of the patient testing if the patient is positive or negative to allergies in the
antibiotic that had given to him. And at the last day of my immersion there was a baby that had
a high fever causing chilling of the patient the nurses automatically give first aid to the baby to
reduce the fever of the baby but the nurses of dizon hospital decide that the patient should
transfer to the other hospital to save the baby it is because dizon hospital can’t handle like that
illness. After that we just do a cotton ball all day the nurses told us that every nurse experience
on making the cotton balls even now because they are the one who will make the cotton balls.
Lastly the head nurse told us that we should continue on taking the nurse as our work someday
because according to her there is a lot of need of nurses in our country.

INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS

Conducting an immersion is a great way for the learners to learn there desired work in
the future it has a big impact on the learners if they will still continue their desired path in the
future .the learners should not think that conducting an immersion is a burden to them because
it has a lot a great things to discover, learn and realize if they will still continue their dreams on
their life. This immersion taught us to be responsible in everything we think, plan and act on the
situation. This really helped us to be ready for whatever purpose we have in our lives in the
future. The experiences during immersion make me realize that being a nurse is not easy it has a
lot of things to do a lot of medicine and always handle your temper when you are working as a
nurse.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

To conclude, work immersion is a solid matter in terms of enhancing the learners skill and
discipline not only for self-improvement but also making there decision a lot more clear in the
future because when you take a path that you don’t want it might lead you to the wrong path
that’s why immersion is present for the learners makes them realize there future work. Overall,
my immersion in dizon hospital is helpful for me and it has positive effect on my decision in my
life. I am very happy with the amount of things that I have learned and experienced in the 3
days of observing I feel the hard work of every nurses in our world because the nurses is the
first person you can talk what is your problem even if nurses are the most prone subject in
getting the sick of the patients. I also discover that the nurses should ware their mask for them
to avoid a sick and help more people in the hospital. The department of education should
continue conducting a immersion for the students because it has a lot of help for the students
specially me to decide my future career immersion makes you experience your work place even
if you are still a student that’s why it has a lot of help for us the students.
