Lesson Plan for Physical Arts (Grade 8)

(September 9-13, 2019)
I – Objectives:
At the end of the sixty (60) minute period, the students will be able to:
a. Identify characteristics of arts and crafts in specific countries in East Asia: China (Chinese painting
and calligraphy); Japan (origami, woodblock printing, theater masks, face painting, and anime and
manga); and Korea (theater masks, drums, and K-pop)
b. Reflect on and derive the mood, idea or message from selected artifacts and art objects and
c. Create crafts that can be locally assembled with local materials, guided by local traditional
techniques
II – Subject Matter:
a. Topic – East Asia Arts
b. Materials –laptop, T.V monitor,
c. Reference – Curriculum Guide of Arts Grade 8, Teachers Guide in Arts Grade 8, Internet

III- Procedure
Preparatory activities:
1. Greetings!
2. Morning Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Motivational Activity
4-A’s
a. ACTIVITY
The teacher will divide the class into 5 groups, they will identify the words that are presented to the board
of which county they belong. The first group got the correct answer will be the winner.

1. Painting 2. Landscape painting 3. Calligraphy 4. Jingju Lianpu 5. Woodblock Printing

6. Ukiyo-e 7. Chosun Period 8. Origami 9. Heaven, Earth, Mankind 10. Peking Face-Paint

b. ANALYSIS
The students will answer the following questions through oral recitation:
1. If you are ask to paint, what will be your subject matter or object?
2. Why did you choose such subject for painting?
3. What are the contributions of China, Japan and Korea in the development of arts?
4. What make the arts of China, Japan and Korea unique?

Followed by the discussion of East Asian Painting.
