Critique Paper

An art critique is a detailed analysis and evaluation of a work of art. While no two people will experience the
same reaction to a work of art, or interpret it the same way, there are a few basic guidelines you can follow to
achieve a thoughtful, thorough critique.

The world of Contemporary Art is a very diverse place with really no commonality between artists and
artwork or the mediums they use. Today in the world of art the sky is the limit and the cerebral
consciousness between artist and artwork can become extremely complex. Some might find that
Contemporary art is so complex that understanding is impossible; I hope that you have found that
Contemporary art is not impossible to understand but rather an exciting changing time that the likes of
have never been experienced before.
Based on the artwork that I’ve seen. My description was, the artwork appears to be balanced by neutral and
bright colors. I saw that the artwork has a lot of round shapes surrounding the canvas that gives a sense of
attraction to the eyes of the people who is seeing it. I also saw a tree with no leaves at the center of the canvas
like it serves as the subject of the painting. Also there’s a blue like planet or moon at the side of the tree but
I’m not sure of what it is. The background of the painting appears to be a bright red and yellow, it looks like a
fire burning. Also I noticed that at the bottom of the painting there’s a smooth stroke of waves in it. The
painting was in landscape form as shown at the canvas. I think that the painter used a mosaic like brush strokes
to add some texture to the painting.
When it comes to analysis I’ve observed that the painter uses mostly small round shapes surrounding the
canvas that gives the artwork some dimensions. In colors the painter uses mostly blue, green, red, and yellow
that gives the artwork a sense of bright but calming painting. When in texture the painter uses brush strokes to
make a dimension in the painting. As you can see the tree serves as the center of the attraction that will makes
you look instantly once you see the painting. In terms of contrast I perceive that the moon and fiery burnt color
at background gives contrast to the painting. In patterns yes the small like round shapes surrounding the
canvas. In sense of space and volume the painter really balanced the artwork because the space of the canvas
was occupied. The special techniques that the painter uses was the brush strokes he/she made at the canvas.

My Interpretation to this artwork was upon seeing the artwork like for the first I instantly felt the sense of
calmness with a hint of strong bright background because of the colors red and yellow that gives the painting a
contrast with the blue color schemes. I perceive that the purpose of the painting is to appreciate the beauty of
the nature. But this painting represents the beauty of the forest at night that it can be a magical place to looked
at. I also think that the painter releases his/her feelings towards this painting. The painter is telling a story in
the use of this painting and that story I think was a starry night and the forest is starting to lit up and be magical
like no one ever sees it but anyone can imagine it. For a contemporary art like this I saw the modern world in
this like it tells us to preserve our nature and took good care of it. Because no one else will but us.

In over all justification I liked what the artist did to this painting because it amazed me in the sense of
attraction because it looks like really relaxing to me to look at. I also liked the color schemes that he/she used
in this particular painting it really gives the people the sense of positivity and also awareness about the nature
to give more interest in preserving the beauty of it. I’m glad that the artist put a lot of effort in making this
painting specially the techniques that he/she uses in order to achieved this artwork. In Conclusion the artist
really did a great job in making this piece of artwork that anyone can use as a sense of inspiration mostly in
future uses. I hope that one day many artist will give interest in making more of this artwork.
The truth of the matter is that the diverse perspectives that are expressed through contemporary art are
incredibly valuable to society, and reflect the many changes that we've had both in philosophy and in science
over the course four lifetimes. Because it is a visual representation of the past. Besides ancient buildings and
ruins, historical paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts are the only things we have to be able to see what
others did, thought, believed, wore, ate, and interacted. Art from the past gives us insight into ourselves in the
modern world.

The function and purpose of a major work of art, the expectations that are placed
upon it, and the role of the artist are not constant. They vary in different time
periods and societies. Yet a few works stand out because they have the ability to
speak more of their era, and they offer inspiration and meaning across time.
Certain works of art should be studied for their different attributes. Art survives
past the artists live through their work and can be seen and studied by people,
patrons, collectors, dealers, art institutions, and fellow artists.
