Chapter 10 Review Questions

1. You have been asked to join a team as a representative of your department. The team has been
tasked with the development of an ethics training program to support the company’s new code of
ethics. What would your recommendations be? My first recommendation would be elect a
chairperson or an ethic officer that would oversee the ethic training program. Then I would
recommend that we come up with a new code of ethic policy that everyone will adhere to.
2. Your company wrote its code of ethics in 1986. You have been assigned to a team that has
been tasked with updating the code to make it more representative of current business ethics
issues like the Internet and modern business technology. What are your recommendations? I
would recommend that a charter be made up that will document the company’s commitment to
ethical behavior.
3. Does the role of an ethics officer bring real value to an organization, or is it just “window
dressing” to make the company look good? Yes and no but the ethic officer brings real value to
the organization due to the fact that the officer represents a true commitment to the management
and to the leadership of an organization’s ethic program and one that would enforce the code of
ethics and provide support to any employee that witness any unethical behavior. Also these ethic
officers can send a clear message to the stakeholders and provide an appropriate person for
employees and their managers when they need guidance or support.
4. Do you think you could be an ethics officer? Why or why not? Yes, I believe that I would be a
great ethics officer because as a minister in the church I have always try to do the right thing and
stick to what I say and do.
5. When you go shopping, do you pay attention to how transparent the company is in its business
practices? Why or why not? I really don’t do the shopping in my household I let my wife do all
the shopping but when I have to go to the store and shop for something that I need I always pay
attention to the labels to see what is in it and I would google the ingredients or by-products to see
what they really are and what harm that it may cause.
6. Would organizational integrity make a difference in your loyalty to a company? Why or why
not? Yes the organizational integrity would may a difference in my loyalty to the company. It
would absolutely and does define my loyalty with regard to whether I stay, or whether I go and
look for employment elsewhere. But this does not define my ethical values
