Funny and Creative College Informative Speech: A Short Analysis

The approach that the speaker did in starting his speech with the simulation of a buzzing
"bee" is very different from the usual rhetorical question that we are used to. I liked the way he
started his speech because it was different and from thereon, he was already able to get the attention
of his audience and get them "hooked".

Throughout his presentation, it was seen that there was a clear structure to it; starting from
his introduction and all the way down to his conclusion. I liked how he was able to clearly state
his main points in the introduction as well as provide a very informative speech. It was well
researched for he was also able to cite various articles and studies throughout his speech. In
addition to such, I really liked how he used visual aids (such as the pictures of the bees) as well as
used hand gestures and various movements all throughout his speech. I believe that this was a good
way to get his audience to listen and also be interested in what he has to say. To add to the
abovementioned, I loved how he was very consistent with his tone and overall vocal projection.
He maintained a conversational and casual tone all throughout his speech and his voice was loud
enough to be heard. It is seen that he was really prepared and confident as well as the fact that he
knew what he was talking about. I also liked how in his conclusion he was able to wrap it up as
well as restate his points and give some sort of recommendation to his audience with regards to
what to do when they see a bee, buzzing around. I believe that most of those mentioned above
would very much help me in my own informative speech presentation, especially the confidence
factor to it and the consistency of his overall presentation.

Some points to improve on would be to lessen the glances on his notes as well as the long
pauses that he would make from time to time to check on his notes. Another would be to try to
avoid the use of fillers, especially since he did use the word "um" several times in the duration of
his speech. Lastly would be to in a way lessen the use of his movements and gestures since
although it did help in keeping the audience interested as well as in emphasizing some of his points,
some were a bit too much since there were some that I personally think were not really necessary
anymore. Overall, it was a great and informative speech.
