The goal of this study is to know “Classroom Environment: It’s Impact To The

Academic Performance Of The Selected Grade 12 GAS Students Of BestLink College Of

The Philippines”. In order to know their background or experience about positive

classroom environment. In order to complete the study, the instrument used by the

researchers was a survey questionnaire and the methods used were descriptive method

and quantitative research design.

The results from the questionnaire and statistical analysis showed that most of the

students are aware and has an idea about work immersion. But still there are a few

students that don’t have any idea about work immersion.

Chapter 1: The Problem and It’s Background

1.1: Introduction

A structure the designed and built for a particular purpose the quality of being easily

performed, to provide a comfortable for accomplishing a task. Something that is built,

installed or established to serve a purpose.

A comfortable classroom is should be changed according to programs of

education delivery, and should provide a physical environment that is comfortable, safe

and accessible. Many communities recognize that in addition to school facilities being

cost effective. The self- contained classroom can't longer provide the variety of learning

settings necessary to successfully support the project.

All students need a friendly facility at the school, especially a classroom to help

them focus on their studies, doing projects, and other activities. Teacher's also deserve

the same kind to fulfill their duty, task, and most importantly to teach their students well.

If the ambiance and place are clear and neat people tend to focus and think clearly.

Classroom's are important in teaching each student's to nurture the capabilities of each

student. Psychology says if the surrounding is good it can help the mental and physical

skill of the student. Improving the quality of classroom is an expensive undertaking.

However, the positive impacts of this are improved of the teacher's and student's

Noise levels greatly affect teachers and students' performance. In fact, excessive

noise cause dissatisfaction and stress both teachers and students. Indoor air quality is a

major contributor to absenteeism for student with asthma. Before the cheap electricity

school often relied on natural lighting. As electric power cost declined, the amount of
artificial light used in school increasedAnyone that has worked in a classroom that is too

hot, knows how difficult it can be when trying to work, when the temperature is

uncomfortable. Alternatively, classrooms with sample space are more conducive to

proving appropriate learning environment for student and associate with increased

student engagement and learning The purpose of this study want to explore the possible

relationship between classroom conditions and school outcome such as academic

achievement, attendance, classrooms, completion rate and teachers turnover rate. And

this study will inform the behavior (a noise) levels greatly affect teachers and students

having an inadequate are buffer external noise form classrooms can't improve student

outcome.

1.2 Background of the Study

The purpose of this study is to inform the reader and the future researcher about the

importance of a healthy and peasant class environment in the study of students. And

show what are the various effects or impacts that the environment would affect the

learning process of the students. Focus and concentration is one of the main topic of this

study and very significant factor that each individual need to be able to perform well. In

this tudy we will discuss how the classroom environment would be big factor in

performance of the student inside their schools.

1.3: Statement of the Problem

This study was concerned to determine the impact of the classroom environment in the
academic performance of the selected grade 12 students of Bestlink college of the
Philippines school yearr 2019-2020

Specially it bought answer to the following question

1. The selected grade 12 GAS student be descride in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Gender

2. How the classroom environment effect the academic performance of the

selected grade 12 students in terms of:

2.1 cleanliness

2.2 orderness

2.3 lighting

2.4 ventilation

2.2 Theme/ Instruction and management

1.5 Scope and Limitation of the Study

The researchers select 50 Grade 12 GAS Students to determined the satisfation of the

student's regarding the classrooms facilities of Bestlink College of the Philippines.

1.6 Significant of the Study

This research helps everyone, especially the students and teachers to know how

classroom environment is very important in their daily life while they are in school.

Everything from the color of the walls to the arrangement of the desks sends impressions

to students and can affect the way a student learns. The emotional environment also will

affect the learning environment and how well a student receives instruction.

Student - The result of this study is to help the student to know their worth and to help

them focus while studying or doing some other activities while in school. Some students

are easily getting distracted. If the classroom was neat ,clear and in a good condition,

there is more chances that students are more creative attend to be more active to

participate.

Teacher - This study will show that not only, the student will benefit this research but

also the teachers. Teachers need also a this kind of treatment to fulfill their duties and to

focus while teaching the student.

Admnistrator - The result of this study to gave an information on how the admin can

handle this kind of situation and to improve the classroom's. Specially the facilities not

only the classrooms, but also in all surroundings. This research will give them an idea to

help the students, teacher, and colleague on their works

Future Researchers - If some future researcher reads this study I hope it will help them to

ease their work and gave them an idea on how the school facilities help the student and

teachers.
1.7 Definition of Terms

Accesible - it referes to the ability for everyone, regardless of disadvantage or special

needs, to access, use and benefits from every within their environment.

Conducive- tending to cause or produce something, Regular exercise is conducive to

happiness and a feeling of well-beign

Classrooms- is a learning space, a room in which both children and adults learn.

Classrooms are found in educational institutions of all kinds, ranging from preschools to

universities, and may also be found in other places where education or training is

provided, such as corporations and religious and humanitarian organizations. The

classroom provides a space where learning can take place uninterrupted by outside

distractions.

Inadequate- is something inadequate, there is not enough of it or it is not good enough.

Nurture- is to care and guve attention to someone or something that is growing or

developing.

Stress- is a feeling of strain and pressure. also psychological pain. Small amounts of

stress may be desired, beneficial, and even healthy.

Utilizing- are use for a particular pupose.

Classrooms: An Environment for Learning

Date Released:June 26, 2012

The classroom is the centerpiece of a school's education. Inside each room is a teacher

and pupils engaging with one another. The main purpose is to create a climate suited for

learning. Classroom management could be a challenging task to any teacher. There are

times when a teacher needs complete silence and there are times when a teacher wants

active participation from the students. The objective is always keeping the attention of the

pupils. Both lectures and activities can be held inside a classroom.

In the following video of GMA News, the situation in a school in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan

is highlighted. About 500 students are crammed inside a covered court with only portable

blackboards dividing the different classes.

The challenges are crystal clear. There are 5 section in grade 4 and 4 sections in grade 3,

with each section numbering more than 50 students. The covered court also sits right next

to busy roads so vehicular traffic adds considerably to the noise inside the covered court.
The statement made by Pangasinan DepEd officials regarding the fact that problems such

as this will remain with or without the implementation of DepEd K to 12 is correct:

"...the six division superintendents stood with conviction that problems on the shortage of

classrooms, insufficiency of books and school facilities have been age-old problems in

most schools — so whether to implement K to 12 or not, these problems would still be

present...."

What the DepEd officials fail to see is that addressing such problems must be first

priority. The fact that these problems exist reflect the gross neglect of the government in

providing quality education to the youth. The failure to provide the basic needs of public

education provides a good measure of how well, or in this case, how bad a government

runs its educational system. If the government cannot add 1 + 1, then the government

cannot solve for x in (x + 1 = 2). The classrooms in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan provide what

quality people could expect from DepEd's K to 12.

We should not be blinded by sound bites like "It takes an entire community to educate a

child." Partnerships with the private sector can indeed aid public education but there are

responsibilities that rest on the government. One of these is providing an environment for

learning. The government can not delegate its primary responsibility of providing the

basic needs of public education to the private sector while wasting resources and time on

a misguided K to 12 curriculum. The government should not waste its funds paying

consultants and preparing new materials for a new curriculum if the implementation of a

new curriculum will happen in an environment like that of Urbiztondo Integrated School.
The government cannot preach to parents the need to make their homes more conducive

to learning when public schools can not do the same. It is true that it takes an entire

community to educate a child but that community includes the government.

Changing a curriculum, drawing K to 12, these are all easy tasks. These do not translate

directly to the education of the youth. The classrooms and the teachers in these

classrooms do. Another sound bite is that "people generally do not like change." People

actually do, if the change is for the better. If the government changes the way it treats

public school teachers by upgrading their salaries, supporting their work, improving their

training, giving them the respect they deserve, the people will embrace this change.

Teaching Styles of the Classroom Managers in one Basic Primary School in the

Philippines

Teaching-Styles-of-the-Classroom-Managers-in-Pinamucan-Elementary-School.pdf

Just as people have individual learning styles teachers have teaching styles that works

best for them. It is important to be aware of the preferences when creating and delivering
instruction. An effective classroom organization plan involves advance planning of a

lesson, from beginning to end, using a variety of procedures. For the teachers, this means

utilizing classroom management techniques all throughout the lesson in order to maintain

a consistent learning atmosphere. Such techniques involve focusing on the whole class,

rather than on individual students and their behavior. Because teachers are watched by

thirty five or more pairs of eyes at a time, it is crucial that teachers focus on procedures

that enforce his or her role as a manager. For the Filipinos, education is considered to be

one of the most cherished treasures that anyone could possess. A good education is

something to be proud of, so it is important to encourage children to make the most out of

it. Education could be seen as wings for progress of human being, the key to success.

Teachers are aware of the important role of education in an individual‟s life that is why

as much possible, they must be equipped with the knowledge of the ever changing trends

in education. Teachers can present lessons using methods to reach each kind of learner,

and can also help students become aware of their own learning styles so they can

understand the best way for them to study.

Teaching puts premium on the ability of the teachers to guide students to “reflect” on

their own experiences in order to arrive at new understandings and meaning. Several

studies have been conducted in the past in search for effective teachers. Among them is a

study made by Kenneth Moore (2005) who found out that the effective teachers are

proactive, that is, they are active information processors particularly in the classroom,

good decision makers, and task oriented. They are equipped with knowledge and mastery

of content in the particular fields, aware of the characteristics of their students, and skilful

in decision making particularly in keeping their students tasks.

The teacher is considered the most important variable in the learner‟s educational

environment. Perhaps, without teachers, the other related elements of the teaching

learning process would be ineffective for he motivates guides and directs the learner‟s in

the quest for knowledge. Since acquisition of knowledge on the part of the students takes

place in an environment conducive to learning, the physical features, e.g. buildings and

playgrounds, classrooms and laboratories, library, medical clinic, equipment, teaching

aids and instructional devices should be well kept. The curriculum is that is viable should

include the learning activities and the strategies to be used so that the desired goals can be

fully realized. Et.al Zulueta (2002). To know the different teaching styles and best

practices of the Pinumacan Elementary School this will be a great help for future

educators. To utilize the positive strategies based on the data gathered; lastly this may

serve a reference to future education researchers.

What Makes a Classroom an Effective Learning Environment?

Author: Dr. Tom Perks

Date Released: 2013-2014

environment

In early 2012 the Learning Environment Evaluation Working Group (LEEWG) embarked

on a pilot project to examine classroom space at the University of Lethbridge. Initiated by

the Teaching Centre, the impetus for forming this collaborative group of staff, faculty,

and students from across campus was to promote the improvement of current teaching

and learning spaces at the University and to inform the process of planning for future

classroom construction and renovation. The project represents an initial attempt by the

group to empirically explore the importance of the relationship between a classroom’s

physical environment and the perceptions of instructors and students who work and study

in that classroom. After all, given that our physical surroundings have a profound

influence on our behaviours, it makes sense for an institution devoted to higher learning,

and especially one that is devoted to quality undergraduate teaching, to engage more

closely with classroom space and to understand how the learning environment can be

designed or modified to improve instruction and learning. The LEEWG sees itself as

playing a collaborative and leadership role in developing relevant evidence-based criteria

to inform classroom design at the University of Lethbridge.

This article focuses on one aspect of this project: an examination of instructor and student

perceptions of the physical aspects of the learning environment in room L1050, and the

effect, if any, that comprehensive changes to this classroom had on these perceptions. As

such, we are especially interested in comparing perceptions of the physical environment

of L1050 before and after changes to the room.

Relationship between Classroom Climate, Student Self-Efficacy, and Achievement in the

High School Math Classroom

mathematics"context=honors_mathematics

The academic classroom climate is of increasing interest to educational

psychologists and teachers in general. Classroom climate has been defined is “the

classroom environment, the social climate, the emotional, and the physical aspect of the

classroom,” (Bierman, 2011, p.2). While there are many factors that can influence how a

student performs in school, the climate that the teacher creates in the classroom for the

students through goal-setting, appropriate challenges, and empathy for the students may

some major factors contributing to student achievement.

Even more interesting is how this could be related to student self-efficacy, which is a

student’s perceived capability for a specific task or subject, in this case math. Teachers

may be able to influence student self-efficacy with the classroom environment that they

create. A great deal of research has been done in this subject area in the last 25 years to

support the importance of the mathematics climate on student self-efficacy in the subject

(Fast et al, 2010; Fresko & Ben-Chaim, 1989; LaRocque, 2008).

Many studies regarding student self-efficacy in mathematics and the environmental

effects on their self-efficacy have been conducted. Although this study focuses on public

high school students in a suburb outside of Boston, the research that was analyzed ranges

across a broad spectrum of ages, geographical locations, and scopes. The following

relevant studies include elementary-age children, middle and high school students, and

also college students.

Studies on this subject area have been done in the United States, Israel, Slovenia, China,

and elsewhere. Starting with the very broad topic of environment and narrowing towards

the relationship between classroom climate, self-efficacy, and achievement, these

dynamic studies will be used to support the relevance of this research topic area and also

the upcoming hypothesis.

2.3 Theoretical Framework

Maslow Hierarchy Theory

One of the Maslow Hierarchy of needs is a physiological need are the physical

requirement for human survival. If these requirements are not met, the human body

cannot function properly and will ultimately fail. Physiological needs are thought to be

the most important, they should meet first.

Physiological need inclyde

• Air (Breathing)

• Water

• Food

• Sexual instinct

• Sleep

• Clothing

• Shelter

This Maslow Theory is one of the theories that the researchers want to prove that this

research is having evidence that they want to show / inform readers, what are they need,

and to do in their classrooms to improve and still the unity and to the ambiance. To have

a place that clear and neat, people tend to be focused and think clearly. Classroom

environment belongs in the part of Marslow Hierarchy of needs in the shelter that says
every student and teachers need a friendly classroom to improve their skills and

knowledge.

2.4 Broken Window Theory

One of these interesting bits of information is the Borken Windows Theory. Based on the

article by James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling, the theory posits the acts of serious

vandalism can be prevented by fixing problems when they are small, and fixing them

whin the short period of time. The author uses this example to demonstrate their theory:

Based on first hand knowledge of the effects of an improved environment and my

interpretation of this theory. A community should be extra vigilant about the conditions

of their schools

Consider a building with a few broken windows. If the windows are repaired, the

tendency is for vandals to break a few windows. Eventually, they may even break into the

building and occupied perhaps become a squatters or light fires inside.
