Okowa Urges Appointees to Build Synergy


On Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, Governor Ifeanyi
Okowa urged top government officials in the state to
work to ensure that there is synergy — in order to
ensure that the desired results of the administration
can be achieved.

Governor Okowa disclosed this while declaring open


the Executive Management Strategy Retreat for
government officials themed “Defining the pathways to
build a #StrongerDelta.”

“Government offices are held in trust for the people


and everybody in position of authority must work
together as a team for the good of the people.

“We must always work with sincerity of purpose, and


the determination to achieve synergy in all our
endeavours — as we continue to build a
#StrongerDelta and create more opportunities for our
citizens,” Governor Okowa said.
The Delta State Government joined institutions, leaders
and people across the globe to commemorate the 2019
#WorldFoodDay, on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019.
“We join the rest of the world to commit to
#ZeroHunger across our state and the nation. We
will continue to work to develop and implement
sustainable strategies to curb hunger for all our
people.”

Okowa Reiterates Commitment to Appointing


Qualified Public Servants into Strategic Positions
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has reiterated that his
administration will continue to reinvigorate
gover nance in the state through the
appointment of qualified people to strategic
positions.

Governor Okowa said this on Friday, October


18th, at the swearing-in of 11 Permanent
Secretaries and the inauguration of the Boards
of the State Universal Basic Education Board
(SUBEB), Rural Development Agency (RDA) and
the Direct Labour Agency (DLA).

“I expect that you will provide fresh ideas to


support the state government in consolidating
on our achievements as we continue to build a
sustainable foundation for our economy,”

Okowa Condoles Obiano, Victims over Onitsha


Inferno
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, on Wednesday, October 16th,
commiserated with his Anambra counterpart, Mr Willie
Obiano, Anambra people, particularly Onitsha residents
over the tragic fire incident that gutted parts of the
commercial city.

"On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I


condole with my brother, Willie Obiano and the people of
Onitsha over the unfortunate fire incident that led to loss of
lives and destruction of properties.

“The tragic images coming out of Onitsha of the raging


fires are truly heartbreaking.  As neighbours, Delta will
stand with our brothers and sisters in Anambra at this
difficult time as they recover from this terrible incident. The
unfortunate incident of yesterday calls for concerted efforts
towards proper and prompt disaster management,”
Governor Okowa said.

Okowa Calls for Urgent Intervention in Health and


Education Sectors
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has called for special
attention to be paid to the health and education
sectors to positively impact the lives of citizens. The
governor said this on Friday, October 18th, when
the executives of the Nigerian Medical Association
(NMA) led by Dr Francis Adedayo paid him a
courtesy visit in Asaba.

“My administration has been working to enhance


and expand our contributory health scheme by
paying the premiums for both pregnant women and
children under 5-years old.

“With the registration of civil servants and their


dependents in the contributory health scheme, we
are now working to amplify our advocacy efforts to
provide healthcare coverage for more of our citizens
in the private and informal sectors,” Okowa said.

Okowa Says
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has urged religious leaders to
pray for the upliftment of the nation, saying that their
prayers will be impactful on the people.

The governor spoke on Friday when Evangelist Rabbi


Schneider paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba.

According to him, crusades will win more souls for


Christ and prayers will be offered for our country and
the state.

“Prayers of our religious leaders will uplift the country


and impact positively on the life of our people in the
state. When Christian leaders pay us visit, we believe
that the prayers will uplift the state and the nation
because, the more we pray as a nation, the more we
connect with God and find solutions to the challenges
facing us,” the governor said.
