Hello,

I am a huge fan of your newspaper and I subscribe it each week. The topic about the
infiltration of technology in our lives is very relevant. Since my work is related with children, I
see how technologies affect them in both positive and negative way. Therefore, after reading of
the article I got some thoughts and insights which I wanted to share with others.

Does the situation is really so bad as the author of the article describes it? Unfortunately, but
technologies eventually take more and more space in children’s daily life at the expenses of other
things. Statistically children in alder 12-18 years spend almost 6 hours on screen a day. It means
by surfing in internet, playing video games, chatting online. 6 hours each day on screen is a lot. It
leads to that children don’t have time to others common activities as sport, real meets with
friends and schooling. In my opinion the virtual reality is more attractive for children then the
real life. Also, there is scientifically proved that technologies which most children use every day
have a distraction effect for children which obstructs children’s focus on things as studies. In this
way, according to scientist, technologies make a profound impact to academic performance of
our children.

But the situation is not so bad as it might look. Who decided that the high-level usage of
technological devices is wrong? The virtual reality is just more interesting for children. Instead
of doing any other sport children do e-sport online, instead of meeting friends in real life they do
that online. The world is in rapidly change and that is just how it is, the new generations have
their own interest and ways to spend their free time. Of course, children’s academic results and
performance should not be suffering and be affected. But perhaps should the school change
along with the world as well? For instance, as in Finland. In Finland academic results of children
is incredibly good although the infiltration of technology in their society is at the same high level
as in any other country of the west world.

In conclusion I want to say that influence of technologies to our lives is imminent both in
negative and positive way. Some people might thing that the new generation are turning into
walking techno-zombies due to technologies. But, the new generations thing the same about
those who say that. It is a consequence of changing world and conflict of generations. The only
way to solve the conflict is to be more flexible, adapt to the changing world and don’t look back.
