A celebration of equality on National Coming-out Day

National Coming Out Day

(NCOD) is an internationally observed
civil awareness day celebrating in-
dividuals who publicly identify as a
gender or sexual minority. The day is
observed annually by members of the
LGBT community and allies on Octo-
ber 11.
National Coming Out Day is ob-
served annually to celebrate coming
out and to raise awareness of the LGBT
community and civil rights movement.
The holiday is observed in a wide
variety of ways: from rallies and pa-
rades to information tables in public
spaces. Participants often wear pride
symbols such as pink triangles and
rainbow flags.

Gun Control - Pro and Con your choice of protection

By Charles Anderson / Robert Nathans

Gun control pros and cons have been
discussed innumerable times. They have
been thoroughly analyzed in gun control
debates.
But since both the advocates and op-
ponents of gun control stick to their posi-

pros and cons and evaluating them.
Points made in support of gun con-

1) Gun control facts reveal that the US

in possession of the US residents is 50 per-

The Legalization of same-sex marriage world wide Pros-Con

By John Goins / Paul Eckroad
Guest Writers
Same-sex marriage has been a contro-
versial social issue in the U.S. for several
decades, but public opinion on this topic
seems to be evolving.
For example, an annual poll by Gallup
has been tracking the question of whether
or not same-sex marriages should be legal
since 1968, and the percentage of favorable
responses has increased from 27 percent to
53 percent during this time frame.
Although this certainly is not a huge
majority, it does indicate that the support
for same-sex marriage within the U.S. is
likely to become increasingly widespread
over the next couple of decades.
However, there are still several reli-
gious and political groups who are opposed
to the idea of same-sex marriage. This op-
position is typically based on the belief that
homosexuality is a sin, but the separation
of church and state is supposed to make
this viewpoint legally irrelevant.
