The raw sugar was transfer from warehouse to the plant will be feed into affination centrifugal,

the centrifugal function as spinning washing machine that separate the molasses with the raw
sugar and melt the sugar using the Melter and the liquid sugar that form is called raw liquor.
Then, the raw liquor undergoes clarification process. This process using carbonator, in this
carbonator the raw liquor is introduce with lime and carbon dioxide, the purpose of this process
to …………after the liquor out from the carbonator is called as clear liquor.

The next process is decolorizing process. The clear liquor now is feed up into the IER
(Ion Exchange Resin). The main purpose of this process to reduce the colour content for the
liquid sugar. In this process have 11 IER column used to reduce the colour. In each column has
specific resin that used to reduce the colour, the chemical engineer will decide which type of
resin that is suitable to be use in the column. After the process finish the liquid sugar that comes
out from IER id called as fine liquor

After the fine liquor is collect in the tank, now it is the time for the next process which
is boiling process. In this process the fine liquor is boil in the vacuum pan. They use vacuum
pan to control the boiling temperature, it is because in the vacuum pan the pressure is -1 bar,
by using the concept lower the pressure lower the boiling point. In this process the -1 bar is
used to control the texture and colour of the sugar, if the sugar boiling temperature is too high
it will scorch the sugar and indirectly will change the colour of the sugar to dark. The purpose
of boiling to produce the crystal grain from the liquid sugar.
