These are simple guidelines on how to do your case analysis.

You may deviate from the format

during presentation but make sure you follow the outline of the paper presented below.

If you are the reporting group, there is NO need for you to submit a written paper. But
you NEED to submit your PowerPoint presentation slides in PDF format to credit a score.
Else, you will be graded

I. Case Narrative
● Introduction / Summary
● Problem and issue/s of the case
● Statement of the Problem
○ Make sure that this is in question form.
● Point of view you would like to take as the leader or manager
○ Choose a point of view in the case where you can make a decision based on the
story.
○ The point of view should be internal to the organization. Avoid choosing
roles/point of view that is a third person to the organization.
○ Ex. Owner, Supervisor, Employee
II. Case Analysis
● Theories behind actions and what applicable principles needed
○ Apply theories or conceptual frameworks that you have discussed in our class or
even in some your other courses
○ Ex. Carrol’s CSR Pyramid, Visser’s CSR, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, etc.
○ Use the framework/theory to relate it to the problem, expectation, ACAs
● To further discuss the theories behind the issues, answer the guide questions provided
in the case. Answers should be in a form of a cohesive paragraph.
● PESTLE and SWOT Analyses
○ Create a PESTLE Analysis of the organization. Make sure to add references in
the elements that you are discussing
○ SWOT Analyses come after the PESTEL analyses. Make sure you know the
internal strengths and weaknesses of the organization you are investigating. The
Threats and opportunities should come from your PESTEL analysis.
● Alternative Courses of Actions (ACA’s) including the Pro’s and Con’s
○ List at least 3 ACAs. Make them as specific as possible.
○ In each ACA, write the tradeoffs of the decision in a Pro’s and Con’s table.
○ Ex. Do Nothing, Resign, Avoid etc.
● Sustainable Development Goals Analysis
○ What are the Business Issues/Risks in the case?
○ Analyze from the point of view of the industry. You can obtain information from
your PESTEL Analysis
○ From identifying the issues above, which among the SDGs are affected. From
the business issues, what are the impact opportunities? Refer to the illustrations
below for your reference.
○ Indicate what performance indicators should be given on the impact opportunities
that you have provided.x
○ Refer to the example below:

○ Refer to the following Earth Security Group SDG Dashboard the SDG and the
issues you see as brought up in the case. Moreover, you can explore on some
risks that you see are brought up in the case. The illustration below provides
examples. Depending on the scenarios of the case, you may further explore risks
and impact opportunities.
■ The table above represents the risks in relation to the SDGs. From the
case, which do you think are the risks mentioned in the case?
III. Recommendation
● From you ACA’s, which do you think is the best recommendation?
● What will be the objectives of the recommendation based on the SDGs.

For reporting groups

● You are required to submit a pdf format of your presentation

● Submit it a day before the presentation
● You are given 15 to 20 minutes to present. Compress the contents of the paper. For
tables with large amounts of texts, compress them so that they can be easily
understood.
● Always use SDG graphics on your presentation. Avoid referring to SDG numbers only.
● Try to use the 7x7 rule which states that a PowerPoint slide (or any other electronic
slide) should have no more than seven lines of text and no more than seven words in
each of those lines. This is only a recommendation, no need to constrict yourself with
this rule if it is impossible to do so.
● IF YOU ARE PRESENTING, DO NOT BE LATE. ELSE I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO
PRESENT!
● DO NOT PRESENT IF YOU DID NOT CONTRIBUTE ANYTHING TO THE PAPER.

For non-reporting groups

- Each group will be called to state their point of view, stand on the case and
recommended ACA.
- Prepare 1 to 2 rebuttal questions for the reporting group.

Standard Format will be as follows:

 Arial Font, Size 12, 1.5 Spacing, 1” Margins all sides (Please treat this as our
standardized format for all submissions
 You can include pictures or quotes you would like to reflect on.
