The planets in the solar system.

Mercury is a small planet and it is very close to the Sun.


Mercury is smaller and closer to the Sun than Earth.
Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and the closest to the Sun.

Venus is very hot; the temperature there is over 400ºC.


Venus is hotter than Earth.
Venus is the hottest planet of our Solar System.

Earth is our planet and it is very beautiful.


Earth is more beautiful than any other planet.
Earth is the most beautiful planet in the Solar System.

Mars has high mountains and volcanoes and deep valleys.


Mars has higher mountains and deeper valleys than Earth.
Mars has the highest mountain and the deepest valley.

Jupiter is a very large planet.


Jupiter is larger than all the other planets, and 11 times larger than Earth.
Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System.

Saturn is a very light planet.


Saturn is lighter than Earth.
Saturn is the lightest planet of our Solar System.

Uranus is a very cold planet.


Uranus is colder than Earth.
Uranus is the coldest planet of our Solar System.

Neptune is very far from the Sun.


Neptune is farther from the Sun than Earth.

1.Teacher divides pupils into 8 groups. Each groups are given a manila card, 1. the writer(s) has finished the first draft,
colour pencil, marker pen and info about a planet. all the group members help review it and
2.Each group makes a poster. They decide who will write,draw and manage check the language and content.

Missing planet

1. Teacher sticks the word cards of planets on the board. (check previous week)
2. Choose a pupil to come up to the board.
3. Asks the rest of the pupils to look at the word cards carefully for 30 seconds and tell them to
close their eyes.
4. The pupil at the board has to remove one of the word cards.
5. After that, the rest of the pupils open their eyes and try to guess which word card is missing by
asking the pupil in front with the sentence pattern.
Q: Have you got Venus?
A: Yes, I have. / No, I haven’t.
6. Repeat.
