RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

Research instrument is a tool to collect and measure data related to our research purpose.
When we collect the needed data, we can analyse the data according to our research purpose.
According to Edekin (2012), research instruments are tools developed by researchers to
achieve their stated objectives when carrying out a research study. In other words, research
instruments are designed tools that aid the collection of data for the research purpose.

The research instrument can be:

 Interviews
 Surveys
 Questionnaires
 Observation

Bear in your mind that any research instruments are requires permission to use it and
often under copyright. So, for this case study for public relations campaign, we decided to
use Google Documents questionnaires. Our purpose of conducting the research is to
collect the data from the respondents on the survey that we will conduct about our Grab
campaign.

Questionnaires designs depends on type of information that the researchers needed.

There are two types of questionnaires which are quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative
questionnaires are used when we need to validate any previous generated hypothesis.
Qualitative questionnaires are used when we need to gather the exploratory information from
the respondent. Sometimes, we provide the questionnaires is to prove it either the hypothesis
is acceptable or not.
For our research, we have decided to use Google Documents as a method for our
instrument. In our opinion, by using Google Documents to provide the questionnaires is the
best research method for help us to collect the data about our Grab Campaign. Reasons why
we chose questionnaire is because:

 It is systematic
 Contains a systematically compiled and well-organized series of questions
intended to elicit the information which will provide insight into the nature of the
problem under study (Barile, 2016).

Hence, Google Documents as a platform questionnaire is very suitable for us to conduct

our survey for research purposes for our campaign. This is because we can make our own
custom set of questions about our Grab campaign and research that can be answered by the
respondents. Many types of questions we can do in Google Documents such as the free-
answer type questions and the guided response type questions. The varieties of questions
allow the respondents to answer with their own opinion as well.
