Q.

1 Explain GIF, JPGF, and PNG:

The Graphics Interchange Format is a bitmap image format animation that was
developed by a team at the online services provider. File extension for an
often animated raster graphics file and is the second most common image format used
on the World Wide Web.

JPGF: Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPEG is usually known as JPG. It stands for
Joint Photographic Expert Group, a joint working group of International Standardization
Organization (ISO) and International Electro technical Commission (IEC). It is a
standard method of compressing graphic images. It is one of the most common used
format for pictures.

PNG: Portable Network Graphics which can be pronounced ping or P-N-G is a

compressed raster graphic format. For example, PNG images use lossless compression
like GIF files, so they do not have any blurring or other artifacts that may appear in
JPEG images.

Q.2 What is Color?

Color, or colour, is the characteristic of human visual perception described through color
categories, with names such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or purple. This
perception of color derives from the stimulation of cone cells in the human eye by
electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectrum.

Importance: Color plays a vitally important role in the world in which we live. Color can
sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. It can irritate or soothe your eyes,
raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite. When used in the right ways,
color can even save on energy consumption

The role of colors in graphic design. Saturation is the intensity of a certain

color determined by the amount of white (lighter) or black hue (darker) added to it. Now
the lightness or darkness of a specific color refers to its value. Tints are colors with
more white and shades are colors with more black.

Q.3 What is layout?
Page layout is the part of graphic design that deals in the arrangement of visual
elements on a page. It generally involves organizational principles of composition to
achieve specific communication objectives.

Rhythm. ...
Proportion. ...
Emphasis
The high-level page layout involves deciding on the overall arrangement of text and images, and
possibly on the size or shape of the medium. It requires intelligence, sentience, and creativity, and is
informed by culture, psychology, and what the document authors and editors wish to communicate
and emphasize.
Q.4 What is Hypertext?

Hypertext is text displayed on a computer display or other electronic devices with

references to other text that the reader can immediately access. Hypertext documents
are interconnected by hyperlinks, which are typically activated by a mouse click, key
press set or by touching the screen.

Select the text or picture that you want to display as a hyperlink.

On the Insert tab, click Hyperlink. You can also right-click the text or picture and click
Hyperlink on the shortcut menu.
In the Insert Hyperlink box, type or paste your link in the Address box.

Q.5 Define Compression?

The re-encoding of data (usually the binary data used by computers) into a form that
uses fewer bits of information than the original data. Compression is often used to
speed the transmission of data such as text or visual images, or to minimize the
memory resources needed to store such data.
However instead of crests and troughs, longitudinal waves have compressions and
rarefactions. Compression. A compression is a region in a longitudinal wave where the
particles are closest together. Rarefaction. A rarefaction is a region in a longitudinal
wave where the particles are furthest apart.

Lossless and lossy compression are terms that describe whether or not, in
the compression of a file, all original data can be recovered when the file is
uncompressed. With lossless compression, every single bit of data that was originally in
the file remains after the file is uncompressed.

Q.6 What is Font?

A font was a particular size, weight and style of a typeface. Each font was a matched
set of type, one piece for each glyph, and a typeface consisting of a range of fonts that
shared an overall design. the definition for font size is: the size of text characters, measured
in units called points pts. a point is equal to 1/72 inch. In typography, a point is the smallest
whole unit of measure, being a subdivision of the larger pica.

You can change the look of your text by changing its fill, changing its outline, or adding effects,
such as shadows, reflections, or glows. Note: You can also apply text effects to WordArt.
Q.7 Discuss URLs, URL Syntax:

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, and is used to specify addresses on the
World Wide Web. A URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource
connected to the web (e.g., hypertext pages, images, and sound files). The protocol
specifies how information from the link is transferred.

For the URL http://example.com , the protocol identifier is http . For

the URL http://example.com , the resource name is example.com .

A complete URL consists of a naming scheme specifier followed by a string whose

format is a function of the naming scheme. For locators of information on the internet, a
common syntax is used for the IP address part. A bnf description of the URL syntax is
given in an a later section.
Q.8 MPEG Profile and levels:
Is a standard for lossy compression of video and audio. It is designed to compress VHS-
quality raw digital video and CD audio down to 1.5 Mbit/s (26:1 and 6:1 compression
ratios respectively.

1. Systems (storage and synchronization of video, audio, and other data together)
2. Video (compressed video content)
3. Audio (compressed audio content)
4. Conformance testing (testing the correctness of implementations of the standard)
5. Reference software.
Q.9 What are Computer Graphics:
Computer graphics are pictures and films created using computers. Usually, the term
refers to computer-generated image data created with the help of specialized graphical
hardware and software. It is a vast and recently developed area of computer science.

Computer Graphics Major. Description: A program that focuses on the software,

hardware, and mathematical tools used to represent, display, and manipulate
topological, two-, and three-dimensional objects on a computer screen and that
prepares individuals to function as computer graphics specialists.

physical world.

Q.10 Explain HTML:

Hypertext Markup Language is the standard markup language for creating web pages
and web applications. With Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript, it forms a triad of
cornerstone technologies for the World Wide Web.

Short for Hyper Text Markup Language, the authoring language used to create
documents on the World Wide Web. HTML is similar to SGML, although it is not a strict
subset. HTML defines the structure and layout of a Web document by using a variety of
tags and attributes.

HTML tag: An HTML code that defines every structure on an HTML page, including the
placement of text and images and hypertext links.

characters that are used to create words, sentences and paragraphs.Text alone provide
just one source of information. Yet, text is good at providing basic information

Q. 12 Computer Aided Design:

CAD (computer-aided design) software is used by architects, engineers, drafters,
artists, and others to create precision drawings or technical illustrations.CAD software
can be used to create two-dimensional (2-D) drawings or three-dimensional (3-D)
models.

Presentation Graphics: A type of business software that enables users to create

highly stylized images for slide shows and reports. The software includes functions for
creating various types of charts and graphs and for inserting text in a variety of fonts.

Computer Art: Computer art is any art in which computers play a role in production or
display of the artwork. Such art can be an image, sound, animation, video, CD-ROM,
DVD-ROM, video game, website, algorithm, performance or gallery installation.

Visualization: Visualization or is any technique for creating images, diagrams, or

animations to communicate a message. Visualization through visual imagery has been
an effective way to communicate both abstract and concrete ideas since the dawn of
humanity.
