INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER HARDWARE

INTRODUCTION:
Computer is an electronic device that receive input, stores or processes the input as
per user instruction and provides output in desired format. Basically computer is a device that can
calculate. However, Modern Computers can do a lot more than calculate. Now there are many
types of computers like Desktop Computers, Laptops, Notebook, Hybrid, Tablets and Smart
phone. The main parts of the computer are Monitor or LCD, Mouse, CPU, Keyboard.
OBJECTIVES:
 In this lab students will be able to understand and learn about the different components of
the computer.
 From this student will be able to understand the interconnection of these components with
each other, So that these components do not work without each other.

MAJOR PARTS OF CPU:

There are many parts of the computer but here we can discuss only Four.
1. Mother Board: The Mother Board is a board that inter-connects
the components of the computer. Basically it is the printed circuit
board. It allocates power and allow communication to the CPU,
RAM, and all other computer hardware components. Each type of
motherboard is designed to work with specific types of processors
and memory, so they are not capable of working with every processor
and type of memory. However, hard drives are mostly universal and
will work with the majority of motherboards, regardless of the type or brand.

2. RAM: The RAM is stand for Random Access Memory. RAM

is a hardware device that allows information to be stored and
retrieved on a computer. RAM is a volatile memory and requires
power to keep the data accessible. If the computer is turned off,
all data contained in RAM is lost.
 3. ROM: The ROM is stand for Read Only Memory. As the Name
indicates, data stored in ROM may only be read. ROM is mostly
used for firmware updates. Example of ROM is EEPROM,
which is a programmable ROM used for the computer BIOS.
Unlike RAM, ROM is non-volatile, which means it keeps it.

4. Micro Processor: A microprocessor is an electronic component

that is used by a computer to do its work. It is a central
processing unit on a single integrated circuit chip containing
millions of very small components including transistor, resistors
and diodes that work together.

CONCLUSION:
In this lab I learned about different components of the computer Like Motherboard, RAM,
ROM, and Microprocessor etc. I also learned about the main parts of Computer Like Monitor,
Keyboard, Mouse, and the most important CPU. I also learned that the computer is not used only
for calculation but it is also used for storing streaming videos or different data. From this Lab I
conclude that computer is very useful device and almost used in every field.
